Jun seems to understand because he nods with a smile. “I’ll happily show you where I live,” he replies.
“Dave first, though,” I point out with a smile. Jun’s been so scared that I would mind that he dated Dave before, trying to tell me over and over again that it’s over and that they are truly just friends, like I would believe he was a cheater. I like Dave, and I owe him for getting me through my high school diploma, and it’s not like he flirts with my mate or anything. It’s rather the opposite: he welcomed me as Jun’s mate with open arms.
Jun and I gather our empty food bags and throw them in the trash before returning to Jun’s car and driving to Dave’s place. As usual, Jun curses while trying to search for an empty parking space, while I laugh a bit and being unhelpful. Eventually, though, Jun parks his car successfully, and we make it to Dave’s apartment.
Jun frowns when he rings, and no one opens. He grabs his phone and dials Dave’s number, just to be directed to voicemail.
“Sugar doesn’t seem to be here either,” I point out. “No barking or anything…”
“What is he doing?” Jun frowns. “He wouldn’t… no…”
“Wouldn’t what?” I ask curiously.
“Do something as reckless as going to search for a friend we can’t reach,” Jun says, furrowing his brows further. “A lycan who is on a secret mission.”
“The mission Marcel joined?” I ask.
Jun nods before he groans. “He absolutely would,” he mutters. “Fuck!”
“Is he doing something dangerous?” I ask, feeling worried immediately.
“I have no idea what he is doing,” Jun admits. “But if he doesn’t tell anyone, it’s probably pretty dangerous.”
“Let’s go to your pack and talk to Luna Annalise,” I offer. “They are friends, aren’t they? Maybe she knows something?”
Jun looks at me, his eyes wide, before he pulls me closer into a hug. “That’s a fantastic idea.” He entwines our fingers, looking at me earnestly. “Luca, I know I said it before, but I’d like to say it once more. I hope my friendship with Dave doesn’t bother you. I know we are wolves, and it’s hard sometimes…”
I shake my head. “I… I might feel insecure sometimes,” I admit quietly, feeling flustered for the insecure and emotional mess I am, especially in comparison to Jun, who is always put together and seems to be in control of his feelings. “And maybe I feel a bit jealous. But I prefer you being a decent person and a good friend to the people in your life. Neither you nor Dave ever gave me the feeling that I’m the one left out.” Oh fuck, I’m rambling. I feel even more flustered. “What I want to say is that I like how you are honest and kind and—”
Jun grabs the back of my head and moves our heads together, smashing his lips against mine. His hands move to my hips, pushing me against the wall. I open my lips, allowing his tongue to push in. I don’t even mind that we are on a staircase of an apartment complex, and everyone could see us. My fingers move on their own, wandering below Jun’s shirt and feeling his skin there.
My wolf stirs inside me again, and I can swear he says Jun’s name.
It spurs me on to get bolder, and instead of allowing Jun to dominate the kiss, I start fighting back, pushing my own tongue against his. I’m clumsy at first but soon get the hang of it, and going by the way Jun’s body moves against mine, he seems to like it.
I’m not sure how far we would have taken this, but eventually a door on a lower floor creaks slightly, and we both jump apart in shock.
For a moment we look at each other, panting heavily, before Jun smiles at me cockily. “Look at that,” he teases. “Who knew my mate could be so bold.”
“If I remember correctly, it was you who jumped me first,” I say, more sassy than usual. Oh shoot… hopefully Jun doesn’t mind me having an attitude…
Jun just smiles innocently, leaning his forehead against mine. “Don’t worry, my mate,” he smirks. “I will make sure we continue this at home.”
*JUN*
I want nothing more than to snatch Luca and drag him to the next hotel I can find, but unfortunately, my sense of duty comes first. Luna Annalise tasked me with bringing a package to Dave, but seeing how he isn’t home, I need to report back to my pack.
Luca seems to be excited to see where I live. He is so shy and quiet sometimes, but when we are alone, and he has time to warm up, he starts showing me his real personality. He is sweet and caring but also easily motivated, excited, and fun.
Akio swells in pride whenever Luca looks at us full of love.
I could feel his wolf earlier,he exclaims. You need to repeat this soon.
What? Kissing him? I’d love to,I admit.I don’t want to push him, though.
Did he look like you pushed him?Akio deadpans.
He kind of has a point, I think, while I intertwine my fingers with Luca’s and lead him back to my car. We drive the rest of the way to Red Claw in comfortable silence until we reach the pack borders, and Luca looks at everything curiously. I point out a few things to him, proud that he seems to like my pack.
