Sheila has already snuggled up with Maddie, her eyes not leaving the little girl. “I will make sure you and Maddie get something to eat,” I reassure her.

“I will check on you later,” Silas promises.

“Make sure to link us when something is off. Even if you think it’s just something minor. The moment you are worried, link us, okay?”

Sheila nods. “Thank you, Alpha.”

We leave the room, quietly closing the door behind us. “Thank you for your help, Flo,” I say. “And sorry for having you work after such a long drive.”

“I was happy to jump in, but really, if Maddie still has such a high fever tomorrow or the day after, make sure she sees a doctor,” she says, following us outside.

“We will.”

Flo looks like she wants to say more, but halts suddenly, a frown on her face.

“Is something wrong?” Silas asks. “Is it because of Maddie?”

“No,” Flo turns around, her eyes wide and a hopeful expression on her face, mixed with a hint of anxiety and excitement.

“No way,” I mutter.

“He is here,” Flo exclaims. “My mate!”

Two Souls That Belong Together

*MARCELLUS*

Silas and I exchange a curious glance before following Flo, who dashes ahead, clearly tracking her mate. I feel so much for her. Meeting your mate is the most exciting part we’ll ever encounter as wolves. The tension, the longing, the hope and anxiety we feel when we take up their scent for the first time. No one knows who their mates are going to be. Even if we are convinced, we don’t have any expectations; we always have in one way or another, but overall, there is just that desperate need and longing to find the other part of our soul. And all we can do is trust in the goddess.

My trust was shaken for a long time. I couldn’t understand why I was mated to Olive first, until I found myself as the Alphaof Sunset Hills with Silas at my side. I hope the goddess doesn’t put such hardships on Flo.

Micah and Benjamin look at us curiously when we pass them. They are standing together with Lori, who has a plan of the pack house in her hand and is going through her ideas on how to renovate it. Flo barely seems to notice them and instead hurries on to the small parking area we have.

I instantly spot a well-known jeep there. Nova and Julianus are standing in front of it, close enough to each other that it fills me with relief. Then my gaze falls onto Cassian, who comes walking towards us. First, there is a frown on his face, then an expression of curiosity, before his whole stance changes. The look on his face is one of shock, surprise and joy.

The moment he spots Flo, he dashes forward, only halting when he is just a step away from her. His eyes darken. “My mate,” he growls.

Flo smiles shyly at him, but beams when he takes her hands into his. “My Luna,” Cass says, a bright smile on his lips. “Finally, I found you.”

“That’s Flo,” I introduce her swiftly. “My best friend, from my old pack.”

“Short for Florence,” she admits. “But I go by Flo.”

“Flo it is then,” he says. “I am Cassian.” He reaches out his hand, his fingers brushing through Flo’s hair, looking at her like she is the most stunning creature he has ever met.

“We’ll leave you alone,” I say. “You know where to find me if you need anything.”

Neither of them pays any attention to me, so I pull Silas with me. “It was just getting interesting,” he pouts. “Wolves finding their mates is better than any soap opera.”

“Let’s check on the second pair of mates instead,” I offer.

“Not a bad idea! I want the juicy details,” Silas agrees, picking up his pace and targeting Nova and Julianus.

“I am so happy for Cass,” Nova exclaims. “And it finally takes him off my ass, so I can spend more time with my vampire heartthrob here.”

The ‘vampire heartthrob’looks completely lost and slightly flustered. Silas looks at him, amused. “I am glad you are getting along so well.”
