I lean back against a tree and watch Memphis pull out a salad and some sandwiches cut up into little squares. And champagne.
Right now, I wish I was Lexie. It should be me. I knew him first.
Hold up, I still care. Well, I always have. And it pains me to have to sit and watch the guy I still love date other girls. I shouldn’t care. He hasn’t cared about me in five years.
But a girl can dream about the what-ifs in life, can’t she?
Chapter Fourteen
Memphis
Ihave made questionable choices in my life. Lexie was one of them. She’s a stripper, and one drunken night I let her give me a private dance. I can’t even believe Sal allowed her on the show. Some viewers will love her job and some will look at me as a chauvinistic pig.
If I were ever serious about settling down, it wouldn’t be with someone like Lexie. Something possessive comes over me as I see the dirty looks she sends Ever. She’s jealous of Ever. I guess she should be, Ever is everything. I just never realized it.
On the other hand, Lexie is cute and she sure knows how to move. Just not sure if she’s being real or if it’s an act.
“Cut,” the director yells from the tree line. I start to put the things back in the basket as I smile at her and then she speaks.
“Finally,” she says. Finally?
“What?”
“It’s just so hard to put a smile on my face all the time when that country slut is eye-fucking you.” Umm, what?
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, you didn’t know? That little girl over there keeps staring at you. It’s annoying.”
“Hmm, yeah, annoying.” I want her to feel annoyed, so I do something that no one sees coming.
I walk over to said slut and kiss her. I can hear the gasps from everyone, including Ever.
And I don’t want to stop. Her lips are like soft pillows and she tastes like strawberries. Why did I wait so long? I’m such a stupid asshole.
She moans and I take the opportunity to slip my tongue in. She breaks away, breathing hard. I am, too.
“Your date is waiting,” she says, pulling away. I don’t get a chance to say anything because in a flash she’s gone.
I turn to see that Lexie is fuming.
I say a couple petty things and once the camera starts rolling again, she’s on her best behavior.
But I don’t want Lexie.
Guess I know who I’m getting rid of at elimination. Bye-bye, Lexie.
I need a nap after all of this. I should also talk to Ever.
I try to find her but she’s not in the barn or the house. I’ll leave it be for now. I have my next elimination to think about.
I am eliminating two people, that means Skye is up and Lexie.
Natalie after that.
“Heard about your little stunt with my niece.” Sal leans against the wall in the hallway, crossing his arms. He wasn’t hardly around when we were growing up, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t protective of his favorite niece.
“I got nothing,” is all I can say.
