I’m coming, Skye.

Chapter Thirty-Four

Skye

Things are coming together. We went to Atlanta and I found THE ring. The sales lady tried to show me others, but I knew the moment I saw it that it was the one. It’s very intricate, with diamonds in a Celtic pattern. On the inside, I inscribed the coordinates of our first time together, which was also the same place as the last time together. It was by the lake on Shane’s property. We went out there to have a picnic, which was my favorite thing to do with him. It was something simple to do and he always put in effort. I smile as I remember that time. It was also where we had the hate sex when he told me hated me again. I don’t think he realized that the place was special.

We went to a craft store and bought a bunch of battery-operated candles. I vetoed real ones. Can’t burn down the bar, Beau would kill me. When we were there, I snuck in a few more items under their noses. Don’t want to give anything away. Then we stopped at a florist to buy a bunch of roses and lilacs. Lincoln loves lilacs. We also got a few bouquets of Cherokee roses, the state flower of Georgia. The bar is going to look beautiful and romantic, and kind of cheesy since it’s a girl proposing to a boy. But like Memphis, I need to go big or go home. Let’s just hope no one passes out.

The water tower was painted already. Memphis called Ever to say Lincoln saw it. I wonder what his reaction was. Did he love it? Did he think of me? Did he smile? Or did he want to throw a rock at it?

The girls have been helping me write out the clues. The plan is that a person will be at each stop and hand him the next card. Ever will get him to talk about what is special at each site. One of the last being the church.

“Done,” I hand her the last card.

“Perfect,” she takes it from me, “So he is coming over to shoe a horse, but I’m going to feed him breakfast and then hand him the first clue. Memphis will give each person a card and tell them where it is. While that is going on, Snow and Alexa will help you with the bar. I’ve already put together his favorite meal, all you have to do is warm it up in the kitchen at the bar. We will text you at every stop.”

“What are you going to wear?” Ariel asks and I shrug.

“Oh no, you don’t know what you’re going to wear?” Mckenna asks.

“I don’t really have anything to wear,” I admit.

“I have something you can wear,” Snow says.

“You do?”

“I might as well,” Alexa nods.

“We didn’t know what to expect when we came on the show, so we were told to pack all kinds of outfits,” Snow replies. Makes sense. You never know with Sal. He could have kept it elegant the whole time or made it crazy like how it’s usually gone.

“We thought it would be like all those other dating shows,” Mckenna admits. I nod because that’s what I thought last season.

“How about we head back to the house and find something to wear,” Ever herds us out to the car. Snow and Alexa are still staying at Shane’s. Mckenna is staying with Jimmy at a hotel for now.

When we get upstairs, Snow pulls out the dress she thinks I should wear and Alexa squeals with glee, “Yes, wear that” Mckenna and Ever smile and nod.

It’s white, with a low v-neck that’s basically two straps over my boobs, but it’s exquisite in the sense that it has embroidered white roses all over it. White on top of white. It’s sexy and sweet.

“Try it on,” Alexa pushes me into the bathroom. I’m a little nervous it will be too small, but as soon as I pull it on and zip up the little zipper, I know it’s the right one.

I step out and they gasp.

“It’s perfect,” Ever whispers.

“I agree,” Ariel agrees.

“I have silver sparkly shoes you can wear with it,” Snow pulls them out and I’m in love with the shoes. I will need a pair. Don’t know when I will ever wear them, but I need them.

“Thank you,” I wipe a tear away.

“Get dressed and we can take it to the bar and hang it up in the office. And then we can have a wine night,” Ariel claps her hands.

I think I need a few bottles to help with my nervousness and nothing is happening until tomorrow. I won’t sleep tonight because I’ll be worried about his reaction.

We head back to the bar, and Beau takes the dress for me.

I signal for a few drinks and spin back around to the table and smack right into Mallory.
