He nods and steps closer to me, putting his hand out for Sammy to take a treat. I can smell his body wash. I step away to put distance between us. Even if he was being an asshole, he’s still beautiful. He has light brown hair with dark amber eyes. I trace his magnificent body. He has tattoos on his arms, and I wonder about their meanings. And then I realize I’m staring.
“Sorry.” I shake my head.
“It’s alright.” He fingers a strand of my hair, and I wonder what he sees when he looks at me. Compared to Snow, I’m plain.
“I should go,” I say, not understanding what just happened but glad it didn’t end in a fight. From what the others tell me, he can’t let go of his demons.
“Watch yourself with Easton,” he grits out and storms upstairs to the loft.
“Thanks,” I whisper and head out.
“Ready?” Easton finds me, and we head out for our date.
The crew drives us into town, and we stop at the ice cream shop.
“I thought we’d start with dessert first.” He glances up and down my body, and it sends shivers, but not in a good way.
“Of course.” He takes my hand, the camera crew tagging along. It’s only us in the shop, but Sal probably made it so.
“You work with animals?”
“I’m going to school to be a veterinarian. Animals don’t talk back.” I giggle.
“I have two dogs.” He smiles at me. Easton is a beautiful man with tanned skin and bright blue eyes. I think he might be Italian.
“Yes, I am part Italian.”
I blush because I said it out loud.
“When is your next fight?”
“I don’t have a date for one. I’m enjoying a break.” He winks.
I just smile. He might have given off creepy vibes, but as we talk, I think he’s a nice guy.
“Cut.” I hear and sigh in relief.
“Not what you’re used to?” He looks at me with concern.
“I usually keep to myself,” I admit.
“I’m sure you know some of my history, but lately, I’ve found I would rather sit at home and watch old movies than go out.”
“You mean your history with Dayton?”
“We aren’t friends. And that’s my doing. Because most of the guys on the circuit are hard-asses, I have to rile him up. It’s fun.”
“I don’t think he sees it as that.”
Easton studies me for a minute. “Do you like him?”
I blush but respond, “Oh no. The times we’ve talked since everything happened weren’t pleasant.”
“To be honest, he’s had it rough. He has more demons in his life than just Snow.”
“Oh.” I look down, wondering what everyone has missed about Dayton’s anger.
“Don’t tell him I said anything.”
