“I also like a guy who can get dirty with me. My job is dirty. Not all the time, but there are times where I have to stick my hand into the behind of a cow and help pull a calf out, the same with a horse. I’ve gotten pooped on too many times to count.”
He laughs and nods. “I could see that, given your profession.”
I like talking to Hunter.
“Dance?”
“I’d like that.” I take his outstretched hand.
He’s surprisingly light on his feet.
“You didn’t think I could dance?” He’s smiling at me.
“You’re so big,” I say.
“I’m light on my feet in the ring.”
“I’d like to see you fight one day,” I tell him honestly.
“I’d like that.” He twirls me around once more, and we head back to our seats.
“Thank you for a great date.” I touch his hand. I kind of feel bad because I didn’t think about the one guy I truly like.
“I think you’ve just had bad luck. But I hope this show changes that for you.” He helps me back into the van.
I fall asleep on his shoulder, and he wakes me when we arrive back at the barn.
“I had a nice time, Hunter.”
“Same. Good night, Timber.” He kisses my cheek and heads toward his cabin.
Maybe it’s not Dayton I’m supposed to be with. I’m so confused now.
CHAPTERTWENTY-FOUR
DAYTON
I watch her with him. I watch Hunter kiss her cheek.
London grips my shoulder. “Down boy, he knows that you want her.”
“She’s on a dating show,” I remind him.
“Just put on your charm and you’ll win the girl,” he says. She goes into the barn, and I excuse myself and slip in.
“Have a good time?”
She spins around when I come in. “He was nice.” She seems detached.
“Nice?”
“Yeah.”
Somehow that angers me. “Is that all you’re looking for? Nice?”
That angers her. “What? Am I supposed to look for someone who treats me like shit?”
She hardly cusses. I need to calm down before this gets out of hand.
