“Me either, and I wanted him to fight. It makes me think what Ethan said was true.”

Nash shakes his head. “Maybe some of the others believe it, but I don’t.”

“I don’t think so either,” Tobias says.

“I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter.”

I stare out the window and realize it’s time to move on.

“Timber,” Ever calls me over.

“What’s up?”

“Uncle Sal is doing another elimination tonight.”

“Oh.”

“Need to get you ready.”

“I don’t know how much more I can hurt today.”

Ever doesn’t press me for anything more than what I’d given her. She helps me into a glittery black gown. She gasps as I pull the gown up.

“What?”

“Timber, what did you do to your legs?”

Well, fuck. I’ve been trying to hide it for so long.

“Timber,” she growls at me. She literally growled.

“I . . . I . . .”

“Sit down.” She gestures to my bed, and I sit.

“Please talk to me.”

“Ever since high school, I’ve been a cutter. I do it to feel pain to make the other pains go away.”

“Since high school?”

“Yes. But when I actually started falling for Dayton, I didn’t feel the need, until the day Ethan spilled all that stuff about me.”

She doesn’t say anything as she helps me into the gown, lost in thought.

I slip on some black flats. My dress covers them, so I’ll be okay. Thankfully, these eliminations go quickly.

I take my place under the tree and wait for Carlton to give his little speech.

“Tonight, two more men go. Timber, the floor is yours.”

I look at the remaining men and have no idea who I want to eliminate.

“I’m sorry, Hunter and Rome.”

They both step up and hug me, no words are needed. I feel bad.
