He grins in my direction. “I agree.”
“I’m all in,” Sal says and claps me on the back.
“Hate to break this up, but we have to get a ring. See you in a few days,” Memphis waves, and we head off to find the perfect ring.
“I have no idea what to get her,” I tell Memphis.
“This will sound stupid, but when you see it, you’ll know.”
“You have been around Ever too much.” I snicker.
“Well, she is my wife.” He smiles.
We pull up to a high-end jewelry store. I’m glad I hardly ever spent money. While my apartment downtown was nice and expensive, the only other thing I spent money on was booze.
I walk through the store, looking at different pieces. Necklaces and rings sparkle and shine. I feel like I could see her in all of it.
A teardrop diamond among three diamond chains catches my eye. I’ll give her that when we move in. Memphis gestures, and the man behind the counter pulls it to wrap it.
I make another loop and see a perfect yellow diamond with a white gold band. It’s a huge diamond, and I know it will set me back at least a million. But it’s so simple. It’s her. She’s sunshine and light to my darkness.
“I think she will like it,” Memphis murmurs behind me.
“I think so too.” I pay, and we make our way back to Brice’s house.
I walk in, and everyone is there, eating pizza, drinking beer or soda. They are looking at flower arrangements and dresses.
“Um, what are you guys doing?”
McKenna looks up and casually rolls her eyes. “Planning a wedding.”
“Um, no. This isn’t a wedding.”
“Yet.” Easton chuckles from the side.
“You want to marry her,” Brice agrees.
“I do. You don’t think it’s too soon?”
They all shake their heads.
“We’re planning it so you can enjoy Timber while the planning is going on.” Ever smiles at me.
“Where is Timber?” I thought Ever was with her.
“I dropped her off when the guys got back.”
“Oh, okay.” I wanted to catch a glimpse of her, but I also wanted this to go off without a hitch.
Ever hands me a beer. “You heard about the diner?”
“Yeah.”
“She still wants only you. That did come out of all of it. You’re beating her to it.”
“You don’t think I’ll be a bad influence considering my past?” Ever is her older sister.
“No, you’re family now, one of us, and we will never let you lose your way again.” She kisses my cheek, Memphis growls, and we both laugh.
