“And there will be a guy who will come along who will, and when you do it, it will be special.”
“I don’t know about all that.”
“I promise it will be.”
I study him for a minute. “Why do you even care? Why are you here?”
“Because we all have mistakes we have to right. I will with time, but it’s too much fun to spin him up. I’m hoping he learns to rein it in.”
We watch Dayton and Silas head to the cage. When he strips his shirt, I hiss. He’s so beautiful. The ink on his arms and chest reminds me of a painting.
“Silas is so much bigger than him,” I whisper, afraid he will get hurt.
“He can take it.” Easton smirks.
I watch as they dance around the cage, calm, cool, and collected. He’s in his element, dodging fists and attacks.
“It’s a way for him to let off some steam. We kept him under control, but when Ethan licked your neck, he wanted to jump over the table and hurt him. He will get his chance, but for now, he needs this.” Silas connects with his jaw, and I gasp. Dayton just rubs it and shakes it off.
“Timber, Ethan is waiting.” I want to cry.
“Memphis is following. He won’t try anything, not on TV.”
I just nod. Dayton glances our way, and his eyes darken in a glare.
Easton just laughs and hugs me. “I think he likes you.”
I don’t know why.
I walk slowly toward Sal and Ethan. I don’t want to go on this date at all.
I think Memphis knows because he’s scowling.
“You’re not going far,” Sal whispers to me.
“Can we talk later?” He nods.
“Timber and I are just going on a picnic. I know others have taken her on one, but ours should be fun.” I want to hurl.
He takes my hand and leads me to a blanket not far from the barn. At least I can see people.
“I was hoping I’d get to see you again,” he whispers as he pours me a drink.
“Oh?”
“Action.”
Then it’s like a switch was turned.
“I made sandwiches for us. I hope you like ham.”
I’m not sure how to take that. He’s looking at me as if it was a pun or something.
“I’m good.” I pick at the sandwich and hope this goes by quickly. Now the dates will only be an hour. This hour is ticking by too slowly.
“You’re going to be a vet?”
“I am. What about you?”
