“That’s so sweet and sad.” I nod, but I understand.
“Let’s go so I can do the paperwork. I’m bringing them back with us.”
“Today?”
“Yeah. They can stay in the cabin with me, and they’ll have a forest to run in.”
“Can I come visit?”
“I’m sure they’d love that. I know I would.” I blush again. I’m surprised it’s not a permanent color on my cheeks by now.
Rome fills out the paperwork, and then we are on our way home with two dogs.
“The guys are going to give you crap because of Peanut.” I giggle.
“They will, but oh well.” He laughs.
Everyone is sitting around when we pull back up, and sure enough, when he sits down with Peanut, everyone starts laughing.
“What the hell, Rome?” London snickers.
“They needed a good home,” he replies with a smile.
“I think he’s cute,” Ever says as she pats Peanut’s head.
“See, he will get me the ladies.” He grins.
“Maybe I need a dog,” Tobias agrees.
“There are lots of cute dogs at the shelter we went to,” I tell him.
I find it funny that now they are all thinking about it.
“Timber,” Sal calls me over.
“What’s up?”
“Another date,” he says, and Silas is at my side.
“Ready?”
“Where are we going?”
“Kennesaw Mountain National Park.” He smiles at me. Out of anyone, he gives me butterflies.
“I’m ready.” I wave to Rome and the others.
“How was your date?”
“It was good.” I glance around but don’t see Dayton.
“He’s not around.”
“Where is he?”
He doesn’t say anything, just helps me into the van, and we head out for our journey.
