“Untie him,” I say and Gage sags with relief, as does Sawyer.

“What are you doing?” Ziggy asks.

“Olive branch. Dixon?”

“Plum doesn’t want us to kill Sawyer. I don’t want to take him away from Gage. He has a lot to make up for, this is a start. It will also be a first that I’ve ever heard that a member doesn’t get killed over something like this. This isn’t my club anymore, it’s up to you guys. But we need him.”

“Thank you,” Sawyer says.

“Don’t thank me yet,” Dixon says, moving toward the door, Gage in tow.

“Rip, find him a room and some clothes. He needs a shower. We’ll figure out dinner for everyone, Sawyer will be in attendance. Then we plan. We need to figure out who is taking over for Ricardo. Jace?”

“On it, Prez.” I watch as he leaves with his brothers and then turn to help Sawyer up out of the chair.

“Don’t make me regret this,” I growl at him.

“I won’t,” he nods, following Rip up to the clubhouse.

“Church in the morning,” I say to everyone else, “all the chapters.”

I step out as the others start texting the other presidents or VPs. I need a drink.

Plum

“Can I come in?” I turn to see Lyra in the doorway. I was relieved to find out she was alive, despite everything she did. I don’t know how she is, she hasn’t told me the story yet. I also can’t believe my dad is or was a part of a motorcycle club. It makes me think my whole life was a lie.

“Yeah,” I sit up in bed. York helped me into the bath and then dressed me earlier before leaving to do what he calls club business. I can’t walk to the bathroom by myself yet, I have to have someone help me. Someone is always popping in, so there’s always help. I’m hoping I can leave this room sometime. I do love the room in the Inn. It’s beautiful. Capone opened the drapes so I could see the marsh and swamp with bushes in bloom. To see these big guys doing sweet things makes me smile.

“I’m sorry,” she blurts out as she takes a seat.

“Me too.” I reach for her hand.

“You’re sorry?”

“I hated you, but I never stopped to think about what you were going through. And then you got hurt because someone wanted the money left to me, though you should get some of it.”

“Grandpa left that to you for a reason, I wasn’t responsible enough for it yet.”

“I still think you should get some of it. What will you do now?” I don’t know if she’s going back to California after this. Will she even have her job when she gets back?

“I’m staying. I have a lot to make up for. I’m going to go to rehab and look for a job.”

“You’re giving up acting?”

“I don’t want to be the person that’s always known as the bitch, or troublemaker, or drunk friend. And I’m sorry for sleeping with Sawyer.”

“I feel like I should have seen that coming, not you, but I felt like he was pulling away from me.”

“I was,” I hear a masculine voice from the door.

“Don’t people knock anymore?” I grumble. “Help me to the couch.”

Lyra helps me walk to the couch. It hurts, but I’m getting better. I should be using the crutches with the walking casts, but it’s not that far.

My room soon fills up with Sawyer, Gage, Dad, Lyra, Diablo, and Capone. No Zion though and that makes me sad.
