“Wow,” Ziggy breathes.

“I was shocked at first and apparently she doesn’t know he’s the president of the MC,” I shrug.

“Well then,” he leans back in his chair for a minute.

“Prez,” Cupid joins us.

“Hey,” I greet him as another round of coffee is poured.

“Sorry about Plum,” he says sadly.

“We have to find her. Gage is losing it,” I say. Not just that, I want to find her, for me. I felt a strong connection and I need her. I want to spend time with her, getting to know her. I love hearing her laugh and I want to hear that again.

“We will find her,” Ziggy vows and I hope he’s right.

Cupid’s phone beeps and he checks it and then looks at me, “Ranger is in the air but nothing, yet.”

“There has to be a trail somewhere. What are we missing? Jace is looking at blueprints and maps. I need Stetson to help with that as well. This isn’t just about her inheritance, it has to be more if they’re hiding their tracks this well,” I huff.

“I think you need to call Diablo down here,” Cupid points out.

“He’s right. Diablo knows the area better than we do, and he has connections across the border,” Ziggy adds. They’re both right. Diablo is one of my nomads. Good brother, just likes to be on the open road and I don’t blame him. He has connections to undergrounds in Mexico and I think he could be a big help.

“Call him,” I nod to Cupid as Dixon joins us.

“I have two men on their way down to Cali. I told them to hook up with your man,” he says as Cupid ends the call.

“He’s on his way,” Cupid says, eyeing Dixon.

“Plum’s father,” Ziggy snorts.

“No shit?” Cupid’s eyes go wide.

“No shit,” Dixon says.

“Alrighty then,” Cupid says, taking a sip of his coffee.

“Tomorrow, we meet at Plum’s land, and I want the ones that were here to take me through their search,” I tell Ziggy who nods.

We’re running out of time.

CHAPTERFOURTEEN

Plum

The man called Nate, left me black and bruised, that’s what it feels like. I think he broke some ribs as well. Yet, I didn’t cave. My mother doesn’t realize it, but that money isn’t mine. It was left to me, but I put my father on the trust. I don’t have access to it, and he has to sign off on any transaction. I did that for a reason. If I die, it does go to Lyra, unless my death is ruled a murder. If I go missing, she doesn’t get it either. I can’t sign it over because I’m not in charge of it anymore. I could tell my mother that, but it won’t change my fate. From what that beast man said is that I’m going to a man who is more sadistic than Ricardo.

I’ve come to realize that Ricardo specializes in human trafficking. Nate took great pleasure in telling me he watched me, even when I lived in California. He took pictures of me, including ones of me soaking in the tub. Then he and Ricardo posted them on the dark net with a price.

As Nate proceeded to beat me again and threaten me with torture to get me to sign.He told me that there was a market for short, plump girls. I had many bids. I don’t feel flattered by that at all. If I stay here, I die. If I go to that man, I die. I want to die, before any of this happens. Gage will miss me, my dad, too. But they will be better off without me.

As Nate leaves, I lie here in this filthy bed as the two men who raped me before, start to take another turn. I try to escape in my head, but all it’s filled with is death. I can only hope that after my demise that all of these horrid people find theirs.

I throw a glass across the room as I get another report of nothing. She has to be dead by now. How will I tell Gage? What will happen to him now?
