“Thanks,” Gage heads for his room.
“I’m going to tell you the gist of the story,” Ziggy starts while going inside to grab some coffee. I wait for him. I love sitting out on the water, I don’t mind waiting.
“Here,” he hands me a cup of coffee and then gets on with the story.
“Her sister fucked her husband, she found out about it, literally walked in on them. Her sister is a reality star, no one that really matters and yes, I looked her up.The husband is some banker or something, didn’t get all that, yet. Though Plum owned the house—.”
“Plum?” I had to interrupt him to make sure I heard that correct.
“Yes, Plum.”
“Interesting name,” I reply as he goes on.
“Gage tells me that she’s an oil heiress. Her sister was mad that her grandparents left Plum the money, land, all that jazz, and she didn’t get shit. Not sure why the ex slept with the sister because Plum is hot. The twin isn’t.Drug issues and all that.Gage is sixteen, football player, hockey player. He’s a jock. That’s all I could get for now.”
“More than Gator gave me,” I grumble.
“He thinks she’s a sweet woman and she is. And she’s hot, for an older woman.”
“Older?” I raise a brow up at him.
“Your age or whatever. I think you’d like her,” Ziggy says.
“Zig,” I warn.
“You can’t be alone forever,” he says, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Ummm, I told my mom and she said thank you. She asked if there was a rental car place around here,” Gage says sadly.
“Can you do me a favor, another one?” I ask him, “and I’m only asking because someone shouldn’t make rash decisions when they’re upset.”
“Sure.”
“Just tell her to wait a day,” I say.
“Okay. I’ll go tell her. Can I help wrestle gators?” he asks.
“I don’t see why not,” I grin, his happy attitude infectious. I can’t help but smile.
“Haven’t seen one of those in a while,” Ziggy says.
“What?” I wheel around on him.
“A smile. Haven’t seen you really smile in a long time. It’s nice,” he teases me.
“Fuck off. Keep the kid safe,” I salute him as I walk out.
“Will do,” he calls after me.
CHAPTERTHREE
Plum
“He said to wait a day, that you can’t make rash decisions when you’re upset,” Gage says.
“Fine. One day. If I still feel the same after tomorrow, I will find a rental car place and a new place to stay.”
“You don’t like those guys?” Gage asks.
