“Again, get your shit together. Sawyer might have some info,” Ziggy says, and I nod, straddling my bike. Once everyone is ready, we hightail it home.
Less than three hours later, we’re pulling up to Plum’s huge house. Gage comes running out to me but stops when he realizes I don’t have her.
“Where is she?” he yells at all of us.
“Son, let’s go sit,” I start but he punches me. I’ll let him have that, and we need to work on that punch.
“Will she always be in danger?” He collapses on the front steps. Capone sits next to him, and I stand.
“No, we’re going to fix this. She will never live in fear again,” Capone promises.
“Why?”
“We’re not sure why she’s been taken, but we’re going to find her,” Diablo states.
“I need my mom,” he starts to wipe some tears away, like he’s embarrassed, but I stop him.
“Sometimes we need a good cry. Doesn’t make you less of a man. We’ll let you have your minute and then we get to work,” I tell him. He nods as we head inside.
I understand Gage. I’m feeling the same things.
“Sawyer!”
“I’ve contacted Ricardo’s son. He wants a deal. He’s going to sell it as there is a man on the inside here. Santorini will think I’m a mole,” Sawyer rushes out before I can even ask.
“So, we let them bring the fight to us?” I ask.
“Dominic will get back to me and see if Santorini is willing to meet. He wants this land like Ricardo did. He will want to meet me.”
“I have no idea what to say right now,” I mumble.
“Good work?” Sawyer suggests.
“Yeah that. But it’s dangerous and Gage can’t lose both parents.”
“It’s worth it, if it means Plum can come home,” Sawyer says like dying is nothing.
“Fuck,” I run my hands through my hair and take a walk outside.
Everyone is somber, nursing beers or water, waiting on the next move. Plum made an impact in such a short time.
“He will meet me in California in two days. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but it’s the best I can do.”
“It’s the only thing we got,” I remark.
“What will you tell him?” Gator asks.
“I will tell him you have the deed and to get it, he has to bring some men here to help me take it from you. I will lie about how many men are here. When he shows up, we take him out.”
“You think he’s that stupid?” Beck asks.
“He wants this land, so I know he’ll fall for it,” Sawyer holds his ground.
“Take a man with you to the meet, Jace, Pike, and Ranger will go to watch your backs. You all need to go now so Jace can get into the camera system of wherever you decide to meet,” I tell him.
“Grab your bags, let’s go,” Sawyer says, giving Pike a side-eye. I’m sure they have a lot to talk about.
“Pike can borrow some of mine,” Ziggy takes the man to grab a bag. Knowing Pike he’ll shut down his clinic for the next couple of days just to help out. And we don’t know what shape she’s in.
