“You’re a different breed,” Dom remarks.

“Can you try calling him?” Diablo asks.

I pull out my phone and hand it to him to call.

“Who is this?” A man answers.

“It’s me, Dom,” Dom says.

“Where have you been?” The man on the phone snarls.

“Getting my ass beat by bikers because of you and Santorini,” he hisses.

“How are you not dead?” his cousin asks in amazement.

“I put on the act of a lifetime and when they thought I was dead, they took me down and tossed me somewhere in Texas.”

“Need me to send the plane?” Dom’s cousin asks.

“No, Santorini’s is nearby. I’ll come home. Cousin, we need to sever ties with Martha.”

“You don’t think I know that? She’s ruining my life,” his cousin whines. I think this family is messed up.

“Where is she?” Dom asks.

“Why?”

“I want to make your life easier,” Dom tells him.

“You can take her out if you can find her. None of the men can find her,” his cousin says.

“I’ll find her for you,” Dom offers.

“Thanks,” his cousin says.

“On one condition,” Dom starts.

“What?”

“I get what’s mine,” Dom says, and I can hear his cousin scoff.

“This is mine,” his cousin replies.

“We both know it’s not. I’ll take her out, and then I’m coming for you. You can step down or die, your choice.”

“I’m not stepping down,” the phone goes silent.

“You’re taking over the cartel?” I ask him.

“To disassemble it. There’s already too much crime across the border, this is one less thing to worry about.”

“You’ll have to kill a lot of people to make it go away,” Diablo says.

“I think I can give them a choice for silence with your help,” he replies.

“Let’s find the bitch first,” Capone sneers.

“Jace?” I turn to the man in question.
