I nodded, my cheeks heated up. “I’ll call you later,” I told her as she waved good-bye and left the house.
I turned around after locking the front door and Leo pinned me against it, his lips capturing mine in a searing kiss that sent a surge of desire in my blood. He slowly pulls away and cups my face, caressing my skin with his thumbs. His blue eyes seared into mine like he was looking into my soul, searching for something.
“Everything okay?” I asked.
“What are we doing?” he asked.
My brows furrowed. “What do you mean?” I was confused, unsure what he was getting at.
He sighed. “I’m old enough to be your father. What would your father think? Or other people?”
“I don’t care what anyone thinks.” I placed my hands on his. “I’ve had a crush on you for so long, Leo. You don’t know how happy you’ve made me over the last couple of weeks since we decided to go on this holidate.”
I lowered our hands, gentle squeezing his.
“Cece, you’re so beautiful, intelligent, and kind-hearted,” he started, the corners of my lips tugging up at the corners. “I can’t be a match for men your age. I’m sure you’ll find someone who you’d fall in love with and won’t want to be with me?—”
“There’s no one who could compare with you, baby. You don’t need to worry about me leaving you. I’m never going to dothat. I’m in it for the long haul,” I reassured. “You’re not the only one who’s insecure.”
“Really?” he asked, his eyes widened.
“Yes,” I said. “You’re handsome, selfless, smart, and I’m scared that you’ll find someone else who has more experience than me…someone who would take you from me.”
“Baby, I won’t let that happen.” He grinned, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against his body. “Like I mentioned last night, you’re mine now. I still have insecurities, especially after what happened with my ex.”
I circled my arms around his neck. “Don’t worry, okay?”
He nodded. “Okay.”
“Plus, I love a man in uniform.” I smirked then winked at him.
“Oh really?” The corners of his lips tugged up in a sly grin while a glint mischief flashed in his eyes.
I pulled him down, our lips finding one another again, this time in a slow, sensual kiss. He licked the seam of my lips, then I parted my lips, moaning into the kiss. This kiss was a reassurance, a promise to one another and this new relationship. His tongue slid into my mouth, curling with mine before he fisted my hair and tilting my head, deepening the kiss. As we made out, my heart rate sped up and desire flowed through my veins.
I pulled back to release our kiss, both of us trying to catch our breaths.
“As much as I don’t want to, Skip and I should get going,” Leo said.
I nodded. “No worries.” I gave him a lopsided smile, trying not to look sad that he was leaving.
“We’ll see each other again this week, okay?” he asked.
“I’d love that.”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to stay away from you too long.” He placed another kiss on my lips, then smiled. “I’ll see you soon, baby.”
“I can’t wait,” I told him before he and Skip left my house.
I looked down at Oreo, who was looking up at me with sadness in her eyes. She missed Skip already like how I missed Leo.
“I know, girl. I miss them, too. We’ll see them again soon, okay?” I told my pup as I smiled down at her, then she wagged her tail. “Come on, Oreo. Let’s hang out and I’ll tell you and Nina all about my date with Leo.”
She hopped between steps, showing how happy she was as she followed me to my room. I changed out of my gown and into an oversized t-shirt and shorts. Pulling out my phone, I called my best friend.
“Hey, Cece, I’ve been waiting for you to call me,” Nina answered.
I chuckled. “Sorry.”
