He stormed back with a tall glass of ice water. Without a word, he sat down, pulling me back onto his lap. Cradling me in his arms, he held the glass to my lips, and I drank thirstily. When I’d had enough, he drank some of the water.
“Do you want more?” he inquired, gesturing to the glass.
I shook my head. “No, I’m good.”
Putting the glass down, he tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, his fingers leaving a tingle in their wake. I tried to burrow closer, but I was already plastered against him like wallpaper. My chest was mashed against his, and my hips were cradled against his stomach.
Arching down, he crushed his lips against mine before pulling back. His gray eyes searched my face as if he were trying to figure out a puzzle, and I was that puzzle.
“For better or for worse, Sin, we’re in this together.”
CHAPTER 8
Sinthia
“Wake up, darling. We’re here.” Core’s voice was low and sensuous.
I popped my eyes open to find him staring at me. “Sorry. I fell asleep.” I was curled against Core’s side, totally satiated after our energetic sex romp.
With languid movements, I stretched. He traced a finger across my cheek.
“What?” I wiped my eyes. “Did I snore?”
“No.” He took my hand and turned it over so he could kiss my palm, the sensation making a beeline for my sex. “You just look so cute when you’re sleeping and not spewing four-letter words.”
He gently placed another kiss on my palm before licking it. His touch stabbed through me, and moisture pooled between my legs.
I smiled impishly. “Fuck off, Core.”
He laughed huskily. “And there she is, my foul-mouthed sex kitten.” He threw open the limo door and stepped out, holding his hand for me to grab. “Time to get you inside.”
I clutched his hand, hopping out.
Releasing my hand, he pressed his palm to my lower back, ushering me up the stairs. “So do I at least get to see where the fashion magic happens?”
I burst out in laughter. Turning around, I rolled my eyes heavenward. “Okay, is that your subtle way of asking to come inside and have your freaky, naughty way with me?”
He offered a bemused smile. “I didn’t know I needed an invitation.”
“With your talented cock, you can come over to service me anytime, Core.” I leaned in, pecking him, before twirling around to resume my climb toward my front door. Pulling my key out of my mini clutch, I started to push the key into the lock when I noticed the door was already open with the lights on inside. A sense of dark foreboding weighed on me.
With shakiness in my limbs, I rushed forward, but Core yanked me back, pushing his muscular body in front of mine.
“Sin, let me go inside first.” He nudged the door and stepped over the threshold. His body stiffened. “Holy shit!”
His wide, muscular back was blocking my view. “What?”
I shoved against him, but he refused to budge.
“Move the fuck out of my way, Core.”
Slowly, he stepped aside, allowing me entry.
I froze, rooted to the spot.
It was like a tornado had ripped through my townhouse. Furniture had been slashed and thrown about. Kitchen drawers were pulled out. Broken glass and dishes littered the floor. Throw pillows had been cut, and down feathers were scattered everywhere. Nothing had been left untouched.
My lips trembled. “Who the fuck would do something as horrific as this?”
