Chapter Nine

TRINITY KNEW VICARhad no intention of letting her usurp him when it came to his standing at the Keep, so she intended to play by her own set of rules.

A little game she liked to call divide and conquer.

That in mind, more impressed by Torc now that she'd embraced her new and improved personality, she swung back and sauntered his way. Where she’d found his tall, swarthy, broad-shouldered looks far too primal yesterday, she could admit she found them more alluring today and made sure Vicar knew that. Torc was decorated much like Leviathan, from the slashes in his brow to signify his ranking to his various tattoos and piercings.

“Well, well, well,” she purred, cozying right into her new persona. “Hi, there, handsome.” Ignoring Vicar’s growl, she offered Torc a naughty smile and trailed her finger down his broad chest like she’d seen Jade do a hundred times to various men. “You seem a lot more likable in the light of day.” She grabbed his arousal and held Loki’s Dagger up in warning at Vicar when he thought to make a move. Keeping her gaze firmly on Torc, she licked her lips. “You seem moreeverythingin the light of day.”

Vicar thought he would bring her to heel? Not if she brought him to heel first. And the best way to do that was to show him that he wasn’t a kingpin around here. Not every woman wanted him. Especially not her when she could have his good friend and partner in crime first. A means, of course, to put Vicar in his place and make him doubt himself. Make him doubt until she swooped in and proved in some unknown way she’d yet to figure out that she was better than him.

“Iammore everything,” Torc conceded. He grinned and shrugged at Vicar in a what-can-I-do way. She didn’t have him by the balls but a far more pleasurable area, after all. One she was sure to declare damn impressive.

“Whoareyou?” Jade landed, shifted, and frowned at Trinity. “And can I have my sister back?”

Meanwhile, Vicar had tamed his inner dragon enough to stop growling and turn things around on Trinity. Or so he wanted it to appear when he crossed his arms over his chest, offered a lazy crooked grin, and perked a brow at her. “Give it a good squeeze, so you know what to expect.” He offered Torc the same what-can-I-do look right back before winking at Trinity. “Because I have more to offer.”

Jade rolled her eyes and shook her head at Thorulf when he landed and shifted beside her. “No worries. Just another day in the Forging-gone-crazy process.” She gestured at her sister. “Trinity’s gone from beating your brother up in the air to grabbing his best friend’s dick to make him jealous.”

Sensing the immediate threat was over, Leviathan and Destiny headed into the courtyard. Vicar had all but claimed Trinity in his ridiculous Múspellsheimr way, so Trinity suspected they figured he could deal with her. And they were right. He could.

From afar.

“Come.” Trinity looped arms with Torc and urged him on but not before she eyed his groin with appreciation and spoke loud enough for Vicar to hear. “Or so I hope.”

“It can’t hurt to hope.” Torc grinned at Vicar over his shoulder. “Though, as a rule, I like to share.”

Nixing any possibility of Vicar joining in the fun, she ignored Torc's comment and eyed every Múspellsheimr dragon she could, spying them easily enough. How could she not? They were the most kindred and ferocious. Not to mention they provided the most trouble when it came to Vicar. Because whether he admitted it or not, he wanted to sample her first, and that’s what she would use against him.

He’d stand in line and wait his turn.

“Hey, sis.” Jade caught up, a frown firmly in place. “Are you in touch with yourself at all? Because you’re thinking a whole lot more like me than I know you’d like to. At least the old me.”

In no mood, she didn’t bother with Jade but made a come-hither motion at another Múspellsheimr male, who started in her direction but backed away when Vicar must have given him a look. So be it. She gazed around the teeming courtyard. There were plenty more where he came from. They just needed to grow a pair and stand up to their alpha.

Until then, she would allow Torc to show her around.
