Trinity didn’t give him a chance to respond but told Jade and Thorulf she would see them in a bit and pulled Vicar after her. It was the first time they had been alone together since she’d arrived, and she felt it acutely when he steered her down an endless torch-lit hallway with a tall, arched design. His sheer size had a way of filling up a space. Reminding her of his power. How strong he actually was.

Which, interestingly, aroused her for various reasons.

Ones that didn’t align at all with her usual way of thinking.

What would it feel like being pinned down by him? Unable to break free as he pleasured her? Could she push past his sheer strength? If so, what would it feel like to pin down someone so mighty? To be in control of such a large man?

When he cleared his throat, obviously aware of where her mind was going and without a doubt smelling her blasted arousal again, she cursed her thoughts and focused elsewhere. Specifically, on the intricately designed hall and its almost cave-like yet still gothic feel.

Clearly trying to focus on something else as well, Vicar swung into tour guide mode.

“Though the godly storms were still years away when Leviathan built this, he did it solely with dragons in mind,” he explained. “It would not only be a place for various breeds and tribes to come together in peace but a place that could house and protect them for long periods of time.”

“That’s why the chambers feel like lairs,” she presumed.

“Ja.” He opened a wide wooden door and gestured that she enter before him. “Outside of the human aspects you’ve seen so far, everywhere else in this place was designed via magic to make dragons feel at home.”

“Ohwow,” she whispered when she didn’t step foot into another chamber but onto one of many docks lined with Viking ships overseen by a huge walled-in community. For all intents and purposes, she was outside. The air smelled of brine, fish, sea, and various baked goods. Cold, salty air gusted. “Wherearewe?”

“This area is for Sigdir dragons.” He inhaled deeply, relishing the familiar scents. “And this is their Fortress.” He shrugged. “Or should I say Leviathan’s magical version of it.”

“Unbelievable.” She shook her head, not just impressed but suddenly so much more.

She blinked back tears, looked his way, and again confirmed just how much history they actually had together.
