Never felt what was on the other side of all the rough, hungry intimacy.
So he lowered her to the grass and tried something they never had a chance to enjoy before. Not like they should have. Their first and last night together had been a desperate rush to sample everything. Every position.
All but one, that is.
One that their Múspellsheimr sides might not like but needed to feel. Needed to understand existed within them just as much as their need for bondage and painful pleasure.
Romance.
Love.
So he brought her to the grass much like he had his bed at the Sigdir Lair, cupped her cheek, and kissed her deeply. Passionately. Showed her with the way he touched her how he truly felt. How he had always felt.
“I do love you, Trinity,” he murmured between kisses, remembering how he had held her when he first realized what mates could mean for dragons. How deep the connection could be. How sweet the moments. “Since the second I sensed you before you were born.”
He touched her here and there, sometimes gently, sometimes rougher, cherishing the feel of her soft skin. The plumpness of her full breasts against his chest. The way she wrapped her legs more tightly around him, wedged her heels in his backside, and held him deep inside her.
“I know,” she whispered, tears in her eyes. “And I love you too...almost.”
He understood what she meant. What he hadn’t said. While there could be no doubt his Sigdir side and her normal side had loved each other from the beginning, their Múspellsheimr halves took longer. Weren’t built for that emotion. Did his Múspellsheimr side care a great deal for her? Without a doubt. He would die for her. But it wasn’t unconditional love. Not yet. Rather he loved her without actually being in love. Scratched the surface but wasn't fully submerged. Not to mention he wasn't the committing kind. As far as they knew, neither of them were.
Now wasn’t the time to worry about that, though. If anything, it was time to show their other halves there was pleasure to be found in being less competitive. Combative. They didn’t need to prove anything to each other but sit back and enjoy how the other could make them feel.
How good it could be.
Something even his Sigdir side didn’t realize until the unexpected happened.
