He smirked as well and shrugged before speaking to Aisling.“Good for you, my friend. That could not have been easy.”

“’Twas tolerable...with company.”

“Oran, I take it?”

“Ta, Oran.”Aisling was quick to change the subject.“Ye should tread carefully, m’Lord. I agree with Oran. Something feels off. Things have become too quiet. ‘Tis not to be trusted.”

“We will.”Because he agreed.“If you two could keep an eye on our scouts this eve, ‘twould be much appreciated.”

“Done,”Oran and Aisling said at the same time and left.

But not before he sensed something rather interesting off his fairy. Something that made clear perhaps therewasmore to Oran than met the eye.

“SERIOUSLY?” MADISONASKED not for the first time later that night. “Aisling and Oran? Hooking up?”

“If he’s a compatible creature to the Fae, then ‘tis possible.” Cian shrugged, still grinning about it, just like her. “But if so, then this confirms he’s more than just a raven.”

“So it seems.”

“Come, I want to show you something.”

He took her hand and steered her away from the fire. It had been a long day of wanting him, needinghim, so she could only hope he would be showing her him.

While she could admit to being nervous, she was more aroused than ever. More turned on than she could ever remember being.

“So it’s splinters in the backside, after all?” she asked—pretty much prayed at this point—smiling.

Cian only met her smile and shook his head.

“Okay, then.” She enjoyed surprises and the night, while brisk, was beautiful. A swollen moon ignited the lush green leaves overhead, lending their walk through the forest a magical feel. Nothing as mystical as what appeared when he steered her around a tall boulder, however.

An intimate nook had been created between the huge rock and the wide trunk of an old tree. Its thick canopy of branches hung so low they created a natural alcove. That wasn’t what caught her attention, though. Rather what Cian clearly had Aisling see to ahead of time.
