“’Tis all right.”Yet he made things clear. He would have her before all else.“We can make things official at King’s Heart just as easily and ‘twill not take long to get there.”
She nodded in agreement, obviously just fine with that.
“I will also have you ride with me,” he murmured in her ear before he brushed his lips across hers again. “I will have you nowhere but in my arms.”
He felt her inner dragon flare with approval. Knew her human half felt the same. So they departed astride his horse soon after with his arms wrapped around her.
Departed on a leg of their journey that would prove more revealing than they ever could have imagined.
Chapter Seventeen
CONSTANCE COULD SAFELYsay she had never been so happy or worried in her life. Happy because the day had gone so well, and she and Aodh were finally married. Finally together like she knew they were always supposed to be. Together like they had long dreamed.
Yet she was worried as well.
Worried that it might be ripped away from them in a heartbeat. That they headed toward certain doom. At least when it came to them being together like this. Her in his arms. The heat of their dragons snuggling close.
She wasn’t sure how she had found the strength to keep them moving when she’d been so tempted to take Declán up on his offer. When she wanted her new husband with a fierceness that consumed her thoughts. That made every moment without him inside her almost painful.
Where sheshouldbe strategizing about how to go up against Siobhán, she instead envisioned all the ways she wanted to take him. How she wanted him to take her. The burning friction that would build between them. The mind-blowing climaxes they would find.
“If ye don’t stop thinking such thoughts,”he brushed his thumb along the underside of her breast,“I will take ye off into the forest now and have ye, be damned the enemy, and battle ahead.”
He might sound flirtatious, but she felt his rigid arousal straining against her backside. Knew just how serious he was. It was taking everything in him to keep from tearing her off his horse and taking her right here for all to see.
So she did her best to temper how much she wanted him and focused on what lay ahead. On the hatred she had to feel for Siobhán. Hatred she was determined to feel no matter what.
“How could you not at this point?”he exclaimed, still talking internally lest anyone hear.“She is pure poison, lass. Surely you feel that by now. Know it to be true.”
“I know I’m frightened I’m going to lose you, and I won’t have it.”She glanced back at him.“You and Ireland are all that matter now.”
She could tell by the way his brows bunched and the corners of his mouth slanted down he wasn’t entirely pleased with that answer. That it could be interpreted that while she wasn’t exactly sure Siobhan was evil, she would still do whatever it took to keep him and Ireland safe.
Either way, that was the only answer she had at the moment.
As assured, despite their large army, her sisters transported them quickly to the outskirts of a sizable camp made up of Cian and Madison’s warriors.
