“Blueberry and lemon.” Briar set it on the counter. “I said I’d make it for you someday.”

“What a beautiful day it is. Or night. Whatever. I need it in my belly.”

Maddox chuckled. “And with the sight of food, we are all but forgotten, physician.”

“Nuh-uh.” I turned back to them. “I can stuff my face with this goodness and cuddle you both at the same time. It’s called multitasking.”

“Says the one who can’t walk on flat ground without tripping.”

“Would you want him any other way?” Briar asked.

“No.” When Maddox smiled at me, it was genuine and soft, smoothing his normally brooding features. “I wouldn’t change a single thing about him.”

“Neither would I,” Briar said, the edges of his eyes crinkling.

The way they were staring at me? My heart sputtered before kicking back into gear. I’d never felt so special to anyone before. “If y’all don’t stop, I’m gonna cry again.”

“Sap.” Maddox tugged me closer and feathered light kisses across my brow. “Yet, you’re our sap.”

I smiled into his chest.

Once the bread cooled a bit, Briar cut off a thick piece and handed me the plate. My mouth was salivating before I even got the first bite into my mouth. And when I did finally get it in my mouth? Dear lord. It was incredible. Perfectly soft, still warm on the inside, and not too sweet. It didn’t even need glaze or icing to go with it.

They talked to each other as I gobbled up the lemon-blueberry amazingness, and when I looked at them, their gazes were on me, humor in their eyes.

“Aren’t y’all gonna eat some?” I asked with my mouth full.

“Watching you is much more enjoyable,” Briar said.

“Your loss.” I shoveled the last of it in my mouth and then dabbed at the crumbs on the plate, the only remnants left of the amazingness.

“He’s pouting now,” Maddox stated, taking me back into his arms. He brushed the edge of my lips. “We should add messy to your long list of titles.”

I nuzzled his hand, earning a soft smile as my reward. Funny how I used to call him Captain Ice. Because right then, Maddox was so fucking warm.

“Why don’t we take this upstairs?” Briar asked, drawing our attention. An unmistakable lust blazed through his hazel eyes, darkening them.

“You read my mind,” Maddox responded before picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.

“Hey! I’m not a sack of potatoes you can just carry and throw around as you see fit.”

“Shh.” Maddox slapped my ass. “Sack of potatoes do not speak.”

I laughed as the three of us moved toward the medical wing and passed through it. No patients slept in the cots. The wing was empty. Because of the powerful healing tonics, no one stayed there for long. Briar led us through a doorway at the back of the room and up a set of wooden stairs.

“I’ve never seen your room before,” I said, wiggling on Maddox’s shoulder. He swatted my ass again.

“That’s right. You haven’t,” Briar said, as if it had just occurred to him too. “Well. No time like the present.”

Did I get the chance to actually have a look around his living space? That would be a hard no. Right as we stepped inside, Maddox carried me over to the bed and tossed me on top of it. He lifted the bottom of my shirt and kissed my belly, sliding his hands along my ribs as he worked the shirt the rest of the way off.

The mattress dipped beside me as Briar joined us. He lightly grazed his teeth across my shoulder before licking down my chest. As his tongue flicked my nipple, I arched up into him and groaned.

“I love how needy you are,” Maddox rasped, palming my thighs before forcing my legs apart. “How you moan.” He looked at Briar with a slight smirk. “Lick him until he squirms.”

“An order I have no trouble following.” Briar ever so slowly—softly—took my nipple back into his mouth, his warm breath causing it to bead tighter. He didn’t fully close his lips around it. He exhaled, letting his breath tickle and tease at the same time. Mostly tease.

While Briar tormented my upper body in the best way, Maddox popped the button on my jeans and slid them down my legs. He laughed under his breath, and I didn’t need to look to know the reason. After the bath earlier, I had changed into the clothes I’d been wearing when arriving in Bremloc—a T-shirt, my jeans, and the boxers with the animated hot dogs printed across them.
