“Trouble sleeping?”
I jumped at the voice and shot upward in bed. A shape stood in front of the open window. “Lupin?”
“At your service.” He stepped closer, and as my eyes adjusted, I made out his pale hair, sharp features, and a classy white suit. “You’ve had quite the eventful few days.”
“That’s one way of describing it, I guess.”
“And tonight ended with a kiss among the flowers. How sweet.” He smirked. “I anticipate many more of those during your time here.”
“Great. You’re a stalker as well? Don’t you know it’s rude to spy on people?” His statement piqued my curiosity. “How many kisses are we talking about?”
Lupin’s smirk widened. “Oh, who can say? You already have two men in your grasp. How many more will fall under your spell, I wonder?”
“You make it sound like I’m the main protagonist from an isekai manga,” I said, scrubbing my hands over my face.
“Isekai?”
“A story where someone gets transported to another world,” I explained. “Everyone and their brother then wants the main guy’s dick. Harem galore. I’m sure my story would have some ridiculously long name too, like ‘Reincarnated As An Overpowered Hero In Another World With a Magic Rod All the Men Want to Ride.’ And I would come diamonds or something.”
“That sense of humor will be the undoing of all your future mates,” he said with a laugh. “How could they not fall for you?”
“Future mates?”
“Harem galore,” Lupin said with a dramatic flutter of his hand. “One Evan to rule them all.”
“No.” Then, because I felt it needed repeating, I did so in a firmer tone, “No. I refuse to be in some kind of fucked-up dating simulation game.”
“I assure you, this is no game, harem king.”
“God. Stop,” I groaned. “This isn’t happening.”
“Didn’t you once say being in bed with a bunch of hot dudes wouldn’t be too bad? You said you wanted to be the heartthrob all the pretty boys drooled over.”
“I was joking! At the time, no offense, I thought you were a con artist, and I didn’t take you seriously at all.”
“Well, surprise. Wish granted. You can have your own harem.”
I felt a bit light-headed. “My dating experience is extremely limited. I can barely manage to date one man, let alone two.”
“How sweet that you think there will only be two.”
I stared at him. “What?”
“The correct number is… well, more than two.”
Yep, my brain was about to break. “How many ismore than two?”
“Five.”
“Five? Who needs that many?”
“Could be more.”
I was overwhelmed just thinking about it. “No. Not gonna happen. I don’t want to toy with anyone’s feelings, okay? I don’t want to juggle multiple men and end up having to choose between them.”
“Most people would love this opportunity.”
“Yeah, well, I’m not most people.”
