“You take her to the clubhouse. We’ll come check on your friend after I see to my mate,” Aziz says calmly, yet gently.

I relax into his arms, thankful for his understanding. I told him how close Arely and I are. The fact that he will take me to see her means something to me. Means more than something. Means everything.

Aziz walks me away from them, scoops me in his arms, and in a flash, we’re moving at nearly lightning speed. He takes us straight to my house.

Once we’re in the confines of what I’m starting to see as our space, I allow myself to break down and sob in Aziz’s arms.

I don’t know what would have happened today if he hadn’t been there, and I don’t want to even think about it. I could have lost everything today. It didn’t matter to me if I was immortal ornot. They could’ve taken a child I knew nothing about until the worst was happening.

From now on, I knew I wouldn’t fight Aziz when it came to safety. Especially now that I know I carry a child.

Visions of a little boy who looks so much like Aziz fill my mind. It didn’t matter if it was a boy or a girl, I knew they would be loved.

Just as I love the father of our child. The very man who holds me now.

I’m not sure what the future holds for us, but we will take the hits as they come.

Epilogue

AZIZ

Hours after finding my mate and getting her to safety, I was still on edge. She told me that a witch had escaped after stabbing her. I knew the threat to her wasn’t over with. It never would be with crazies out there thinking they could end the world by taking out the sun, which means killing Apollo.

After Jett cried in my arms, I took her straight to the shower where I cleaned us both up before taking her against the tile wall. I needed her like I needed my next breath.

We moved from the shower to the bed, where I took her again.

Only when I satisfied my need for her did I let her get dressed. We waited for Dreven to bring me a bag of clothes from my apartment. I was going to have to give that place up because no way was I living apart from her. I don’t think I’ll ever let her out of my sight again.

It didn’t take Dreven long to bring me clothes along with my car. I took Jett to the Spiked Raiders MC clubhouse to check on her best friend. I don’t know if she was going to be okay or not, but she was alive.

Whether she survived the emotional turmoil of what she went through.

“You got a minute?” Corbin asks quietly, getting my attention from where I was watching Jett sitting next to Arely on the bed, where she was all but comatose.

I nod and follow him down the hall to the main room. Orpheus was there along with Sibley. The members of the club were standing around. The room filled with tension and anger. The auras of it were thick enough to taste. The clubwhores that are typically around were nowhere to be found.

“What?”

“They drained Jett’s friend to the brink of life,” Zavier speaks up first.

“We’ve done what we can for her. At this point, it’s up to her to find her way back,” Karsyn murmurs, sadness filling her expression. “It’ll take time, but she’ll do it. I hope.”

“We’re gonna keep her here at the clubhouse. It’s the safest place for her.”

“She has a shop in town,” I note.

“I can run it for her if no one has any issues about it,” Sibley says, stepping forward to offer her help.

“Best thing to do is talk to Jett. See what she says,” I tell them all.

“You would need to ask her mother. She’s an oracle and lives in Asheborne. I’m sure she’s waiting on a call from me. I’m stupid for not already calling her.”

“Nonsense child,” another voice fills the room. We all turn to look in the direction to find a man and a woman standing just inside the clubhouse. The woman steps forward, eyes scanning the room. “My daughter will survive this, but it’ll take time. Only when her mate kisses her will she wake.” She stops to look at Sibley. “Arely would be honored if you would help at the store.I will show you the way she runs it tomorrow evening. You can change the hours to be open as you see fit.”

Sibley nods and lowers her head slightly. “It’s an honor.”

The woman then looks to Jett. “Times will be dark in the coming months, but know this, my child, and listen closely, with your mate at your side, all will be well.”
