I nod. “Yes.”

“Well, we need to get the kids out of here, then,” Ronan says as he goes to stand.

I shake my head. “Graves told me no one can leave.”

Skyla frowns. “Why?”

I shake my head. “He said he needed… all of your help. I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve known him for years, and my parents knew him longer. He sounded… off. Not off in his psychopathic ways. He sounded… scared.”

“Yeah, somehow you telling me the psycho killer who almost gutted you like a pig is feeling scared doesn’t make me feel better,” Liam scoffs. “I agree. We need to get the kids out of here. The rest of us can stay. Two of us can go with Sky and the kids?—”

“He has this place bugged,” I interrupt.

“I’m sorry?” Wesley asks with a raised brow.

Being the security expert of the group, this is definitely his department, and I fully intended beating the fucking shit out of him over it later.

“He could see me as we were talking. I was in the hallway.”

Wesley climbs out of bed, slipping on a pair of boxers as Ronan does the same, then follows after him. My focus moves to Asher as he speaks.

“Do we trust this guy?”

“Fuck no,” I spit.

“But he saved your life—there must have been a reason. And he called you for help. That doesn’t sound like someone who wants to hurt you or your family,” Skyla interjects.

I love my siren more than one soul could ever love another, but my sweet girl can be so naïve. So sheltered to how dark and depraved this world truly is. It’s remarkable she’s been able to hold on to some of that innocence considering the things that she’s lived through.

I just shake my head before digging my hands through my black hair. I don’t know what the fuck to do. Something in my gut tells me that it would cause us more harm to disobey Graves than it would to stay put, though.

“We’ll put Skyla and the kids in the safe room until we’ve assessed everything properly,” Asher says.

“Ash, I don’t need to be kept away like a fragile doll,” she snarks.

Liam reaches over to her, rubbing a soothing hand on her growing belly. “We know, babygirl. We’re just trying to keep you and our babies safe, okay?”

She looks a little put out—she always hates being treated like the damsel in distress—but she’s also reasonable. She understands that she’s our entire fucking world, her and our kids. She knows that we’re all overprotective and unapologetically so.

“Fine. I’m only agreeing because Ronan moved my favorite recliner in there and I miss it,” she says as she pushes herself to stand.

“Where are you going?” I ask.

“To take a shower. Want to join me?” she offers.

I’d love to more than anything, but with the looming arrival of Zayden Graves and his family, there’s so much I need to do. So much I have to prepare for. So I shove my hardening dick to the side and shake my head as I step out of the room.

Before the door shuts, I hear an enthusiastic Liam shout, “Count me in, babygirl!”

Chapter Three

Skyla

Liam practically sprints to the shower, turning on the water as a pair of arms sneak up behind me, wrapping around me before two large hands settle on my stomach.

“How’s my little guy doing this morning, princess?” Asher rumbles into my ear, pressing gentle kisses to my neck as I smile.

“Good. He kept me up most of the night, though.”
