Shy, then?

Thorne smiled. All Vandergale boys were Alphas. That shy trait was rare in an Alpha. Alphas tended to be all bravado, brash and narcissistic. It was how they were taught.

But after Ian, Thorne’s own philosophies about that behavior had turned upside-down.

As he walked along the damp and shiny road, Thorne’s mind worked the puzzle. His curiosity entertained him, for quite honestly, he had nothing else to think about.

The world was so bright today that even Thorne’s sunglasses could not keep him from squinting. When he reached his designated mile post, he turned and headed back toward the Vandergale mansion and his own home across the road and to the south.

The walk made him hot. He opened his coat a little and a cool wind blew down his neck.

That boy in the window. He couldn’t stop thinking about him. Which one was he?

On the way back, he kept glancing at the window but this time he saw nothing.

Once inside his own house, he opened his computer and began to research the Vandergales. . Even though they were his neighbors, he’d only researched them one time. That had been years ago. He’d only looked up the father, Varian Vandergale. Just one more rich Alpha with perfect Alpha sons.

But now he couldn’t help but be curious.

As he recalled the last time he’d looked up the Vandergale name, there was actually little to find on Varian Vandergale concerning his personal life. His businesses were everywhere, and his picture. But not much about the man or the family.

He saw a brief bio, ancient, citing Vandergale’s first family from over thirty years ago. The bio named quadruplet Alpha sons, all adults even then, named Darcy, Eliam, Felix, and Gavin. They’d all be at least Thorne’s age by now.

The boy he’d seen in the window could not have been one of them. Alphas aged slowly, but even so, he looked far too young.

Thorne continued to hunt for more updated bios.

Finally he hit the jackpot.

Varian Vandergale was the recent father of identical twin boys, Bren and Mica. The bio was dated five years ago. But it couldn’t have been one of them in the window. They were still too little.

Thorne read further. That was when he could finally place names to the two boys he’d seen playing catch.

The bio stated:Vandergale is the father of three more boys, age thirteen, triplets. They are, by order of birth, Mathias, Kris and Trigg.

Those boys would be eighteen now. It had to be one of them he had seen. He had three names to put to the face now.

It was a start.

At eighteen, all three boys should be going through their first Burns by now. And soon after, move off to further their educations and their careers. So why was he seeing the sad face of one of them in the window? And more than once?

Maybe one of the sons was ill.

Finally, finding no more information, he snapped off his computer. He needed to get his mind off this subject for he knew himself well, and he had the sort of Alpha personality that fixated on things until he couldn’t focus, sleep or even eat.

He needed to distract himself.

Picking up his half-completed shopping list, he decided to go into town for groceries. It would kill a couple hours at the very least, and maybe he’d get himself a nice juicy burger at his favorite restaurant.

His four-wheel drive truck made it easily down the driveway through the snow. Once on the road, he went the opposite direction than toward town, and drove slowly by the mansion again.

What a stalker!he chastised himself.

Shaking his head, he turned away, gunning the engine and making a U-turn further up the road.

His stomach growled at the thought of a junk food lunch.
