Good. He didn’t hesitate. That meant it was okay to tell him what I’d been wanting to say since last night. “I like you, too.”
“Hmm. If the kissing wasn’t obvious last night, I might have to come up with something else to prove that I like you.”
The kissing. So much great kissing. My skin flared at the memory. My lips tingled. I licked them, then bit down.
“I trust you. You wouldn’t lie to me,” I said.
“Good. I wouldn’t lie. But I still have ideas in mind to show you that I like you.”
“What ideas?” My heart fluttered.
“First the date. Then, we’ll see.”
I couldn’t wait.
We came to a town where the downtown area was all lit up. We pulled into an icy parking lot. The restaurant was decked out in white lights, and we walked into a busy place. I hadn’t expected that on Christmas. The lobby was full.
It turned out Briar had made reservations, and we didn’t have to wait to be seated.
Soon we were eating good food and talking as if we’d known each other for a long time.
Everything popped with flavor. My whole world shifted when I was with Briar to a brighter, sensually stronger reality. I might have been a little and he, a daddy, but he treated me as an equal with total respect.
Uncle Trent did have good taste when it came to picking friends. Briar was amazing.
When we were ready to go, I was so full I could barely move. It was too cold out to walk it off. I made it to the car and felt better from walking across the cold parking lot.
I groaned as Briar entered the car and put my hands over my stomach.
Briar reached into his pocket and popped out a packet of Tums. “Here, little Pan. Chew them up. You’ll feel better.”
It was exactly what a good daddy would do. Be prepared for anything and take care of his boy. I chewed up the medicine, hoping my condition would ease up. I didn’t want to ruin this night for us by being sick.
I didn’t usually have a problem with over-eating. I had been so exuberant, loving everything about the evening, that I’d not known how to stop. One more reason I needed a daddy. Not necessarily for full control, but for the loving guidance I craved.
We drove through the gate and back onto the estate. It wasn’t even ten o’clock yet, but it felt late. The entire mansion was lit up. Christmas wasn’t over yet.
We pulled up to the vast porch and someone was there to meet us again and drive Briar’s car back to the guest garage. Uncle Trent had a great security system. His servants were instantly notified when they were needed, even at odd hours.
Briar took my hand and led me into the house. People were still up. I heard laughter in the distance. Another big fire burned in the huge front living room’s hearth. I saw the fuzzy rug where things had begun to heat up for me and Briar. Good memories.
As we took off our parkas and scarves, I looked up at Briar. Now what? I felt hot all over. I’d barely felt the cold outside.
Briar looked at my upturned face. “How are you feeling?”
“Much better. The Tums did the trick.”
“Good.”
“I don’t want this night to end yet.”
“It doesn’t have to.”
I cleared my throat, nervous about my next words. “You can come to my room if you want.”
Briar patted my back. “That’s a lovely invitation. But if I’m the daddy, my room would be more optimal.”
“Why?”
