Kade’s face lit up, his eyes shining. For a second, I was scared he was going to cry, but he didn’t. He flashed me the brightest smile instead. “Of course you get to keep me. I love you too.” He laughed. “Not exactly what I’d planned on either.”
I smiled back at him, feeling all light and warm on the inside. I hadn’t felt like this in a long time. Not until Kade. “Love usually comes unexpected.”
“Like our baby?”
I laughed. “Yup. Like our baby. Unexpected, but not unwanted.”
He leaned in to steal another kiss. “Shane?” he asked then.
“Yeah?”
“I’ll pay you back anyway.”
I laughed. “Fine. We’ll put it toward the kids’ education.”
“Yes. I like that.”
“Good.” I pulled my stubborn omega toward me and kissed him again.

The studio lightswere so bright they nearly hurt my eyes. Or maybe that was my nerves playing a trick on me, I wasn't entirely sure. My agent told me I should be ecstatic that I got to be onStar Gaze, and I knew she was right. I also knew once the cameras started rolling, I was going to have to answer all the awkward questions. I hadn't been prepared for it, not really. Usually with shows like this, I was told what I was going to be asked, sometimes, I was even told how to respond.Star Gazewas different, though. Sam Wildfield, the co-host, liked to getspontaneous and genuinereactions from his guests.
In a way, it was what made the show stand out. You knew nothing was fake—or at least, very little.
Why did I ever agree to this?
Because I knew I couldn't run from the media forever. Taking a deep breath, I looked at the man sitting in the chair opposite me. Sam Wildfield.
“On in thirty seconds,” he said in a low voice that wasn't at all unsympathetic. “Ready?”
“As ready as I'll ever be,” I responded truthfully.
And then it was time and the lights seemed to become even brighter. I had to stop myself from shielding my eyes while Sam introduced me asa very special guest.
“Welcome to the show, Kade,” Sam said, finally addressing me.
“Thank you, Sam.”
For the first five minutes or so, we exchanged pleasantries and mindless banter, which I knew he was doing to ease my nerves and lure me into a false sense of security—so he could later catch me off guard. I'd seen him do it to countless other celebrities before. Even Michelle had warned me of this before the show. Still, it was tempting to relax. I could see why Sam was such a perfect host for this show. He was a predator, but he didn't look the part.
But even he couldn't keep a total poker face. Every now and then, his eyes would drift to my belly for a second or two. I was over half-way through my pregnancy at this point, and didn't even try to hide my bump anymore. It was pointless. The media had caught on to it. Rumors were flying miles high. And I found myself not caring all that much. Not as much as I would have a year ago, anyway. My baby was not a scandal, and I wouldn't treat her as such. She was a healthy, happy little person growing inside of me.
I couldn't wait to welcome her into this world in just a few months.
So when Sam looked at my belly, I smiled.
I had nothing left to hide.
On the contrary, I'd come on this show to speak up.
After another moment, Sam gave me the perfect segue.
“Your name has appeared in magazines quite a lot recently,” he said. “People are rightly surprised by your change of image.”
I waved him off, displaying more confidence than I felt. “I'm not changing my image.”
