“You've planned for this?”
“You know I plan for everything. We have your brother's blessing. Let's go.”
“Okay,” I gave in. “Lead the way.”
Ethan took my hand and led me through the hallway. When we reached the stairs, he took them room two at a time, which told me that he was just as eager to be behind closed doors as I was.
Once we were safe in the privacy of our room, Ethan surprised me by dropping to one knee in front of me.
“What are you doing?” I asked, watching with wide eyes as he pulled a jewelry box out of his suit pocket.
He looked up at me with a smile and a short wink. “Let’s just say I don’t intend to be unattached for long.” Holding the jewelry box out to me, he opened it. Inside sat the most beautiful ring with a purple diamond cut in the shape of… Oh God, it was a butterfly. “Rhys William Kramer,” Ethan started while I was still staring at the ring and trying to process what was happening, “will you do me the honor of marrying me?”
“Of course I will!” I didn’t even have to think about it, which was a good thing, because all thought fled my mind the moment Ethan got on one knee before me. He really wanted to marry me!
Grinning, Ethan stood and gently put the ring on my finger, and then his lips met mine with a passion that spoke of all the weeks he'd spent waiting to be truly alone with me again. It still stunned me that he wanted me this way, but I didn't linger on that thought. I couldn't, really, not when I breathed in his alpha scent. It was so close to my nose now, and need spiraled up in me like a tornado about to make landfall. I'd been waiting for this too. I'd been wanting to tear that suit off his body from the moment I first saw him in it—and even more so now that I knew we were going to be married.
Maybe he felt the same way about me too, because both our clothes came off pretty quickly.
“You think you're ready for this?” Ethan asked, even as his fingertips traced down my spine and left my skin tingling in their wake.
“The doctor's cleared me.”
“That's not what I asked.” Ethan leaned back a little—to give me room to breathe and think? He was never going to be one of those alphas who just took what they wanted. I appreciated that, I really did, but right now, I really didn't need him to touch me with kiddy gloves.
I just needed him to touch me. Period.
“I'm ready,” I said, pulling him onto the bed with me to underline the point. There were two pieces of chocolate on our pillows. I took both of them and offered them to him. “Areyouready? Maybe you need a snack before we start?”
Ethan snorted. “I'm really hungry for somethingelseright now.”
“Oh?”
Instead of uttering a response, Ethan took the chocolate out of my hand and tossed it aside—and before I could even complain about the loss of my candy, he covered my mouth with his own again.
I decided the taste of him on my tongue was better than chocolate anyway. Especially the way we were now, skin on skin. He lay on top of me, pressing my body into the sheets with his own.
Something hot and hard poked my thigh and I had to smile against Ethan's lips. I knew exactly whatthatwas. “You're eager today,” I commented.
“Told you I was hungry.” He grinned. “Besides, it's not like you're any better.”
Fair point. I was almost fully hard too.
“Did you bring—” I stopped speaking when he climbed off the bed to reach for his suit jacket and fished a pack of condoms and a small bottle of lube out of a pocket. Of course.
“I'm always prepared.”
“I don't know how I ever doubted it. Come back here.”
“As you command.” He joined me on the bed again, covering my body with his own. “God, you smell like heaven, Rhys. I want to make you mine.”
“Pretty sure I’m already yours. You put a ring on my finger.”
Ethan laughed at that. “True, but I want to claim you in different ways too.”
“I'd like that.”
“Yeah?” Ethan kissed the line of my jaw. “Good, because I don't think I can hold back tonight.”
