I nearly laughed, but kept myself from doing so, afraid I would break the spell of the moment. "You smell good too," I said instead, trying to remember when I'd first reallynoticedConner's scent. I couldn't recall, though. In my mind, it had just always been there and it had always been good. Lying there with him, his body on top of mind, his naked skin pressed to mine while we breathed each other in... it was pure heaven.

"I wish I had the keys to my dads’ cabin," I found myself saying. "It's close."

"We don't need a cabin," Conner said, sounding somewhat amused.

He was right too. We didn't need a cabin. Not for what we did that day. Conner started moving on top of me, his body rubbing against mine, and sparks of need shot through me almost instantly. It was all just too much. The smell of Conner’s skin, the warmth of his body so close to mine, the touch of his lips, that delicious friction…

As much as I would like to say something different, things were over almost as soon as they'd begun.

But that was fine too.

We had all day, after all.

And we never even touched the food.

I could only hope that the date I had planned for us today would go even half that well. At the very least, I had keys now.

After swinging by Andrew's to grab some burgers, Jake turned the car onto the road leading up into the forest. By now, I got the feeling that I knew what he was up to. At least, I had some pretty good guesses.

"Are we heading for the cabin?" I asked.

"Yup," Jake said, not even trying to hide his master plan.

"Did you steal the keys or do your parents know you took them for once?"

Jake laughed. "You know what? I'm pretty sure they always knew. At least, my alpha dad did. He mentioned it to me a couple years ago. Apparently he got up to the same shit when he was a teen. That conversation was awkward as hell. I might have been conceived in that cabin."

"Seriously?" I was laughing too. We'd always thought we were so sneaky. Now it turned out we had only reinvented the wheel. "At least you never knocked me up."

"Because there were condoms, remember? God, I bet my paps put them there." Jake lifted one hand off the wheel to drag it over his face.

"At least he was watching out for us," I said, not wanting to think too deeply about it. It was highly likely that our parents had always known what we were doing. "I wonder if they thought it was worse than it was," I mused. After all, we'd only made use of the condoms at the cabinonce.Other times, we either brought our own or chose activities that didn't require them.

"They probably did." Jake grimaced. "Can you imagine? My paps probably counted those condoms." His face grew slightly red. I laughed because I didn't know my alpha could be so easily embarrassed.

"It doesn't really matter now, does it? It was all a long time ago."

"You're right. It's still mortifying to think back, though."

I shrugged. "They probably weren't any better in their youths." After all, neither Jake nor I were the results of immaculate conception.

"True," Jake said, and we fell into a sort of comfortable silence after that. Being with Jake was easy, in spite of everything that had happened between us.

It didn't take long until we reached the cabin in the woods. The little wooden house in between the trees was a familiar sight. How many summer days and nights had we spent here when Jake and I were both home from college?

"I haven't been here in way too long," Jake announced as he parked the car. "I think Paps gave it a new paint job last year, but you can hardly tell. He's not very good at painting. He's still used to hiring people for everything."

"The cabin looks good, though," I said, unbuckling my seatbelt. "You can tell it's being taken care of."

"I guess. My parents really like this place, and my sister... Oh God." Jake groaned.

"What's wrong?" I asked.
