When I finally regained control of my mind, I was hanging limp in Talon's arms, like a balloon that had been popped with a needle—or in this case, a sharp set of teeth.

I'd never felt so sated after sex, and we hadn't even fucked.

I'd never felt so connected to another human being, either. Technically, I wasn't sure if Talon counted as human. Or if I did, for that matter.

His lips were still on me, but he wasn't drinking from me anymore. "How do I taste?" I asked, trying to take some of my weight off Talon, but he seemed to have no trouble supporting me when my wobbly legs didn't want to. "Do different people taste differently or is blood always the same?"

"There's differences. AB tastes best."

"I don't know what blood type I am."

"I can't tell you either."

"You can't taste it?" Slowly, I turned around in Talon's hold so I could look at him. Never mind that it was still dark in the room. Too dark for my liking, really, but I found that I didn't mind as much as long as I could feel Talon's hands on me, which was a bit ironic, wasn't it? A vampire taking my fear of the dark?

"Normally I can tell," Talon said. "It's like telling the difference between strawberries and apples. When you're familiar with both you know what you've got in your mouth even if someone blindfolds you. But you don't taste like strawberriesorapples. No, that's not quite right either. You taste like both of those things at once."

"Are you calling me a fruitcake?" I shot the vampire a playful glare to accompany my words, but I wasn't sure if it had any effect on him. Probably not. He seemed a bit lost in his thoughts. Like a brat, I rested my head on his shoulder so he would focus his attention back on me. "I hope you like the way my blood tastes." Possibly the weirdest thing I'd said to anyone ever, but so what? I meant it.

"It's exquisite."

"Exquisite, huh?" He was describing my blood like other people might describe wine. The thought made me chuckle. "Maybe I should bottle up my blood and sell it to that club for vamps to drink. There's only four blood types, so I bet they're dying for some variation. I could be a millionaire."

Talon's grip on me tightened and he gave a low growl that made his chest rumble.

Aw, was that jealousy? I hadn't known he was capable of that feeling. It was so...human.I smiled a big goofy smile. I must be looking like a love-drunk fool, but whatever. I hadn't felt this high and light andgiddyin a long time. Whatever magic Talon injected into my veins with his bite, it was powerful stuff.

No wonder I couldn't stop dreaming about him.

No wonder I still wanted more.

"Don't worry," I told him, "if you want to be the only vampire who gets to drink my blood, I won't share with anyone else. But you'll have to compensate me."

"Compensate you?"

I made a thoughtful noise. "How about fifty bucks for two drops. Does that seem fair? And you'll have to buy me a surprise present every month, except for December where I'll expecting you to dress up as Santa and fill my stockings."

The vampire scoffed, but I could tell he was amused. "And what exactly do you want in your stockings?"

"How about diamonds? I like them. They're shiny."

"I didn't know you were looking for a sugar daddy, Sparkles."

"I'm not, but don't you want to be one? For me? You could bite me any time you wanted. Just say the word." I turned my head to expose my neck to him once more.

"You're being ridiculous," he said, but that didn't stop him from tracing my artery with the tip of his finger. I was pretty sure that he wasn't going to bite me again just yet, but I liked that he was thinking about it. I liked that he wanted me.

So I decided to cut him some slack. "How about you just buy me a pack of stickers every now and then?"

"Stickers?" He sounded so confused I had to laugh because that was exactly what I had been going for. Talon always seemed so composed, I wanted to throw him off his game.

"All right, I'll tell you what I really want." And with that, I cupped the back of Talon's head and kissed him. It was a little awkward in the dark, because I missed his mouth at first. I kissed his cheek and then the spot just under his nose. Before I could miss a third time, Talon gently gripped my chin and finally brought our lips together.

If my mouth hadn't been occupied, I might have sighed. There was no better feeling in the world than that of being kissed by a vampire. Who would have thought? Okay, maybe there was one better feeling—being bitten by one. But honestly, it was hard to compare those two experiences. They didn't belong in the same category. When Talon bit me, I lost my mind. When he kissed me, I lost myself—and came alive again in his arms.

This kiss wasn't fueled by lust or hormones but something else. It was tough to put my finger on it because I'd never been kissed like this before, but I could tell there was something different about the way Talon kissed me as opposed to the way men kissed me when they just wanted to get into my pants. It made me feel like I was worth more than that.

I never wanted it to end. And maybe Talon didn't want that either. His hands trailed down to my ass and then, holy shit, he lifted me as if I weighted nothing. Damn vampire strength. Not that I was complaining. This was fucking hot. I swung my legs around his hips and held on as he carried me over to his bed, pretty sure that he wasn't about to tell me to go back to sleep.
