"And I've told you I don't want you to have a child with someone else."
"I'm not going to."
"But—"
He laid a hand over my mouth. "Shush. To be honest, I wasn't thinking about the inheritance when we had sex just now. It's the strangest thing, but do you want to know why I suddenly wanted to have a baby with you?"
I nodded, intrigued.
"Because you wanted one, and somehow, I find myself wanting to fulfill your needs. All of them." He was quiet for a moment while my heart was overflowing with so many emotions that I couldn't even place them all. "I've never felt that way before."
I swallowed. Somehow I had tamed this beautiful dragon and made him mine. It was too good to be true, but here I was, lying in the arms of a man who wanted to give me the family I'd always dreamed of.
"Our child, is it going to be more dragon or human?" I asked as if it was already decided that I was pregnant. "I mean, will it be able to shift?"
"Probably yes. Dragon genes are strong, or I wouldn't have looked at human mates. No offense, but I want my children to experience flying."
I cuddled into him. "I think I want that, too."
"It'll happen," he promised me. "You'll give me beautiful children, I know it."
That moment, I believed him.
And then, someone knocked on the door. "Master Tyrel? Are you decent?"
It was Paul.
"Not quite," Tyrel called out with a dirty grin on his face.
"Your mother expects you in the sitting room if you can, ah, disentangle yourself from your human friend, as she called it."
Tyrel chuckled. "Yeah, that's what mother would have said," he muttered. "I'm only surprised she hasn't sent her watch dog earlier."
To my dismay, Tyrel got out of the bed and dressed. Covering his beautiful body in fabric seemed like a sin now that I knew what he was hiding.
"I suggest you stay here while I deal with the fallout," he said.
I nodded. Then I grabbed for my clothes, but Tyrel stopped me with a look.
"Don't get dressed quite yet. This isn't going to take me long."
"Are you saying you want to go for another ride when you come back?"
"The way I see it, we've got to do what we can to ensure we conceive."
I smiled. "Are you sure that's the only reason you want to have sex again?"
"Mhm…" He approached the bed and leaned down to kiss me before he left. "Not like I truly need a reason."

TYREL
As Paul had told me, I found my mother in the sitting room. She greeted me with a sweet smile that I knew from experience was fake and asked me to take a seat and did I want tea?
"No, thank you." I sat in one of the arm chairs across from her.
"You were in quite the hurry to get back here from the clinic…"
