My heart melted in my chest, just as my body melted against his. I snuggled down into his chest, letting my breathing slow.
“Thank you,” I told him. “You’re amazing.”
“I should be thanking you,” he said. “I’ve been thinking of tasting you since you walked into that party with that sexy little dress. I wanted to haul you upstairs to an empty room and have my way with you.”
“Why didn’t you?” I asked.
He let out a sigh and buried his face in my neck.
“You know why,” he said.
“Everly.”
“I know she’s not going to approve,” he murmured. “She’s going to try and claw my eyes out when she finds out. She might even kick me out of her band. She’s got that stubborn streak.”
I sat up in bed, twisting my hands together anxiously with a painful ache in my chest.
“Are you regretting this?” I asked.
“No!” Seth leaned up on his elbows. “Of course not.”
I cast my eyes down. “But you’re worried about how my sister will react.”
Seth ran a hand through his hair, looking tired.
“I lost her friendship once before,” he said. “I hate the thought of losing it again. But—” he shuffled on the bed until we were face to face. He took my cheeks in both hands, forcing me to look at him. “I’d never regret being with you.”
I nodded silently, my heart still aching.
I didn’t want to come between Seth and my sister. I knew how much their friendship meant to each other, especially after being estranged for so many years.
I could never bear giving up Seth. I couldn't bear losing our relationship.
But did that mean Seth would have to lose his relationship with my sister?
