I shuffled on the bed until we were laying side by side and I was facing him.
“Thank you,” I said softly. “I wouldn’t have wanted my first time to be with anyone else.”
He cuddled me to his chest and nudged my nose with his.
“I should be thanking you,” he said.
“For what?”
He gave me a cheeky grin. “For letting me tap that cute ass of yours.”
I burst out into snorted laughter.
“You think you’re so funny, don’t you?” I said with an indulgent smile.
“I’m hilarious,” he said. “Ask anybody.”
I gave him one more soft chuckle before snuggling down in his embrace. I let out a contented sigh and closed my eyes. It was too early to go to bed, really, but I didn’t have a problem basking in the afterglow.
The only thing I regretted was that we probably wouldn’t be able to do this again any time soon. Squeezing in quality time between his schedule and mine was challenging. I was lucky enough to get him to myself for one night.
All I could do was memorize the planes of his chest, the green of his eyes, the burn of his touch, and hope it was enough to sustain me through the lonely nights without him.
A rattling sound echoed in the apartment.
We froze.
“Do you hear that?” Seth whispered.
We both listened intently, ears straining to hear.
The sound came again. It was coming from the front door. Someone was fumbling with keys.
My blood froze.
Everly was home.
