But what a week it had been.

“Let’s get going then. I need some dinner before my sugar gets low.” My grandmother grabbed her purse from the counter and headed straight for the garage.

Julia slowly stood from her seat, blue eyes on me. “Thank you.”

“You don’t need to thank me, Jules.” I pulled her close, running my nose along the side of hers. “I just want you to be happy.”

She leaned into me. “Then maybe we should take your Nonna for some hot dogs.”

“Twice in one week?” I grabbed my keys.

Her body brushed against mine. “I could make it worth your while.”

If I were a better man I would tell her I’d take her there no matter what.

But letting Julia think she bribed me sounded like more fun.

I ran one hand down her back, sliding it over her ass as I pulled her tight to me. “Deal.”

“Stop humping. I’m hungry.”

Julia’s lips rolled inward, hiding her smile.

“At least she’s not taking pictures of my dick.” I lifted my brows at my grandmother.

“What does she need pictures ofyourdick for? She’s got five hundred other ones to look at.” My grandmother pointed Julia’s way. “Don’t forget to send me those.” She disappeared back out into the garage.

“Don’t send my grandmother your cock collection. She’ll use them for evil.”

“She’ll for sure use them for evil.” Julia sounded thrilled at the possibility.

Which made it clear I needed to come up with a better reason to keep them from her than evil. “She’ll end up responsible for at least five heart attacks before the night’s over.”

“That number seems high.” Julia backed away from me, smiling as she went toward the garage. “Three seems more realistic.”

“At least she knows a guy with a boat.” It was amazing how quickly my mood could lighten with Julia here.

Nonna could have dinner with us. That would be fine.

We could pick Collette up from the hospital and take her home.

Whatever Julia wanted.

Because at the end of the day, she was coming home with me.

And I planned to keep it that way.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Julia

“YOU WHAT NOW?” Grant was clearly blindsided by the new development.

Collette gave him a weak smile. “They said I really shouldn’t stay alone tonight.”

“You can stay with me.” I smoothed down the mess of Collette’s hair. “It’s fine.”

“With you? At your apartment?” Grant stood in the corner of the small room at the ER looking completely confused by the sudden change in plans.
