But I did.
Easily.
“Okay.”
I expected him to move away. Maybe go back to the emails he’d abandoned earlier.
But Grant didn’t move.
That wasn’t true, actually.
His hands slowly lifted, skimming up my arms with a touch that made me shiver.
Then they curved against my face, warm and wide and solid and strong.
My lungs stopped working but my heart picked up their slack, racing along at a pace that it would never be able to maintain long-term.
And then it stalled out when Grant’s lips came to mine.
Chapter Ten
Grant
KISSING JULIA WASN’T technically planned.
But it wasn’tnotplanned either.
She was the kind of woman I’d sworn off long ago.
Put in the past with the kind of man I used to be.
Women like Julia were unpredictable. Hard to read.
Exciting.
Interesting.
I’d chased someone like her before.
And failed miserably.
But it didn’t feel like chasing with her.
The second my lips hit hers Julia wrapped both arms around my neck, pulling me closer. Reeling me in even more.
Everything about her was addicting. A drug I hadn’t hit in years but still jonesed for every day.
There was nothing like the high a woman like her could bring.
Julia’s body pressed tight to mine as her head angled, making it easy to deepen the kiss I probably shouldn’t have started. The second her tongue slid against mine I was gone, lost to something I hadn’t felt in years.
Real, honest attraction.
Not a connection I convinced myself to have. Not an interest I decided to conjure up.
This was visceral. Uncontrollable.
I wrapped one arm around her back, pinning her to me, trying to get her closer. Her taste. Her smell.
