I take a breath, stare into her luminous eyes, and I whisper, ever so softly,“Hear my soul speak: The very instant that I saw you, did my heart fly to your service.”

Her eyes shimmer. “That’s beautiful,” she whispers.

“And true,” I murmur. “I am yours, Dani. And I want to be. Forever.”

I reach into my pocket and drop down on one knee in the grass.

“Marry me?”

She gasps, hands flying to her mouth.

Then she laughs, happy tears in her eyes.

“Oh yes. Yes, Hudson, I’ll marry you.”

And then, just as I’m slipping the ring onto her finger, she adds, “By the way,The Tempestis my favorite play.”

I freeze. Look up at her.

“Is it?” I say, awed. “Mine too.”

She grins.

I groan.

“Fuck, you’re perfect.”

And when we get back to the hotel room, I’ll show her.

CHAPTER 28-DANIELA

The momentwe step inside the hotel suite after saying our goodbyes to Hudson’s family, it’s like we’re in some romantic fantasyland.

He did this.

I know he did.

Red roses everywhere.

Piled high in vases, scattered in petals across the white duvet, dripping from the chandelier like we’re in some movie dream sequence.

The scent is heady, romantic, overwhelming in the best possible way.

There’s champagne chilling on the nightstand.

Candles flickering.

And Hudson—my fiancé—moves to the center of it all, shirt already unbuttoned, hands on his belt buckle, eyes on me like he’s ready to ruin me in the most delicious way.

My heart swells so fast it’s a miracle I don’t cry.

“Made all the arrangements this morning before we left for Mum and Dad’s,” he says, stepping forward with something small and velvet in his hand. “Wanted to wait till we were alonefor this though, Dani. Hell, it took everything in me not to show you right away.”

He opens the box, and my knees buckle.

The ring is stunning.

A single oval diamond set in a band of twisted white gold—simple, elegant, breathtaking.
