Sugar…

I could feel myself blushing, less from Xander’s words and more from the mental image of his cum flowing out of me… only to be pushed back in… or licked off and swallowed…

He smirked knowingly, but before he could torture me further, Kai piped in again. “Oh, on that note, I’ve been meaning to say that if you guys ever want to have kids, I’d be more than happy to be your surrogate.”

Xander and I were still ‘eye-fucking’ each other when she dropped that bombshell, so I fully witnessed the sheer panic that passed over his face. I didn’t take it personally. Neither of us had experiencedlovingparents, and I knew it was an automatic response on his part to go into flight mode before someoneelsecould disappoint him.

Since we now go to therapy with Dr. Ownit together.

I alsoknew that it was my inability to hide my emotions that helped Xander open up and share his. So I let him seeexactlyhow I felt about the idea of us having kids together—whether or not they had superpowers.

The answer will always be yes.

Because Xander couldn’t deny me anything, his expression softened—a loving look just for me—before he buried it beneath a scowl and turned to Kai.

“That is something Butch and I will discussin private, thank you very much. Besides…” He cleared his throat. “We would have to make sure a fragile normie carrying a supe baby wouldn’t result in our spawn clawing its way out of you,Alien-style. You know, to be on the safe side.”

Kai barely waited until he’d turned back to his work to roll her eyes. Then she winked at me before rising to stand—making it clear she’d noticed how much attention I paid to the overpriced baby gear commercials when we watchedTrophy Wivestogether.

A true bestie.

“Okey-doke, I’m gonna head out and check on Meowson before tonight’s performance,” she chirped, striding toward the door before stopping in her tracks. “Oh! I almost forgot. One of our neighbors handed off some mail of yours that must have gotten mixed up with theirs.” Kai dug around in her enormous purse before handing Xander a single envelope.

He was still frowning at it after the door shut behind her. “This is odd. All the donations I’ve made to Cerulean Crest over the years have been anonymous, so how the hell did the organization get my name and address?”

Oh, shoot.

I forgot about this…

For a moment, I panicked, thinking Xander might be legitimately angry with me for going behind his back. I shouldn’t have worried. He’d opened the letter and was now staring at it with actualtearsin his gorgeous amber eyes.

Happy tears.

“You did this?” he quietly asked, although it wasn’t really a question. “When? When did you—”

I was blushing again—not from shyness, but more because of how much I’dpleasedhim. “Right before I flew to your parents’ compound to make things right. Whether I lived or died, I wanted my money to go toward somethinggood, especially as it originally came from such a horrible situation.”

“This… this must have beenallyour money, Butch. I…” He set the letter down on the table with a shaking hand before bringing it to his mouth—uncharacteristically overcome.

He was correct that it was everything I’d ‘earned’ working for Biggs Enterprises since graduating from Superversity. I didn’t miss it, especially as I’d picked up more than enough endorsement deals since becoming a free agent.

And it’s not like Xander lets me pay for anything, anyway.

My freedom was thanks to Sylvano Ricci. The USN took Solomon Biggs and Biggs Enterprises to trial for crimes against humanity, resulting in every ‘contract’ between the Biggs and Holt families being ruled null and void. A larger case was now being worked on to examine similar claims in other cities.

Xander and I had also donated blood for the cause—to prove there was no biological difference between heroes and villains, and therefore, no reason they couldn’t be together.

But we already knew that.

All that aside, it wasn’t often that I saw Xander at a loss for words—and I couldn’t remember ever seeing him getteary—so I did what I could to make him comfortable.

“Yeah, itwasall my money. I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather spend it on thanyou, but since you do a pretty good job of that yourself…” My attempt at humor fell flat as Xander was still staring down at his letter in a daze.

Just the facts, then.

“I donated everything with the stipulation that it be used to create a waterfront nature preserve on Rose Island. Additional funds were set aside for any legal fees needed to kick out anyone who’d built a mansion in critical habitat. I did it inyourname, so those rich assholes would know exactly who to blame for fucking up their comfortable lives.”

Thatdid it.
