“We’re in the water,” she mutters, and I grin as I slide one finger inside her.

“My mistake,” I say, circling her clit with my thumb. Her breath comes out in a harsh gasp when I do, hot against my neck. “I’ll work harder.”

“Christian—”

I add a second finger, and she stops talking, her hold on me turning to a clutch. She whimpers into my ear, and I turn my focus back to her breast, multitasking like a champ as her movements grow more frantic. When I finally give her what she wants, curling my fingers in as far as they’ll go, the noise she lets out makes my hips jerk, and she pushes harder against me until there’s no space between us, just body against body, skin against skin.

I grab hold of her bun with nothing more than the intention of guiding her lips back to mine, but that little tug turns out to be just what she needs, and with a soft moan, I’m pretty sure I’ll remember for the rest of my life, she stretches over me, going taut as a bowstring before her legs start to tremble. I stay right where I am, seeing her through it and only stopping when she begs me to, too sensitive to keep going. Even then, the urge to keep touching her is overwhelming, and I stroke her hair as she relaxes around me, feeling like I could stay like that forever. But then she sucks in a breath, nipping my ear as she rouses herself enough to reach a hand between us and, more boldly than I could ever dream of, grasps me through my trunks.

Yeah, forever can wait.

My head tips back as she sits up, and I watch through heavy-lidded eyes as she smiles a sexy little smile that tells me she knows exactly the power she has over me. I want to remind her that I’m the one who just rocked her world, but I’m also not an idiot and am rewarded for my silence with a kiss as she spears her fingers through my hair with one hand and slips under my waistband with the other.

“Tell me what you like,” she murmurs, as she starts to explore, and I open my mouth to do just that when something inhuman shrieks in the darkness.

She freezes immediately, her eyes comically wide as they flick over my shoulder.

“What was that?” she asks, and then before I can answer:“Oh my God, it’s a murderer, isn’t it? Girls who have sex always die in horror-movie cabins.”

The crankier part of me wants to point out to her that we haven’t exactly gotten to that part yet, but I rub her shoulder instead. “It’s probably just an animal.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.”

But she doesn’t move, still plastered against me as if she’s waiting for something. Waiting for…

Okay.

“I’ll go check.”

I ease her off me and am halfway out of the tub, my erection quickly disappearing in the cold, when her hand grabs mine.

“What if it’s a bear?”

“There are no bears in Ireland.”

“There are in thezoo,” she hisses, and I try not to laugh. She seems genuinely worried, and I have a feeling some teasing, no matter how well-meaning, will not go down well.

“I think we would have heard if there was a mass zoo breakout,” I point out. “And I was thinking more along the lines of a fox.”

“Christian—”

“Do you ever think about your tendency to jump to the darkest possible conclusions?”

“You mean my survival instinct?” she shoots back, looking around the porch as though searching for a weapon.

“I’m pretty sure it’s a fox.” I’ve heard enough of their shrieks in London to tell. “But I’ll go check.”

“Be careful,” she pleads, as I take a few steps toward the trees. I don’t need to go much further.

Itisa fox.

I spy it instantly, sitting a few meters away from the cabin, just on the edge of the light.

“You have really bad timing,” I tell it. “You know that?”

“Who are you talking to?” Megan whispers behind me.
