“What the hell, man?” Logan grunts.
“Me? What are you doing?”
“Giving my girlfriend flowers on Valentine’s Day.”
“Well, so am I,” Eli huffs, cheeks heating. He looks down at me with a shy smile. “Hi, Cupcake. Will you be my Valentine?”
“Hey! I was gonna ask her that,” Logan growls.
“Sorry, you were too slow,” Eli chuckles.
“Boys, boys.” I laugh. “You're both being ridiculous right now. Cute, but ridiculous. Sit your sexy asses down and give me the flowers,” I order, taking in the stunning roses. Logan’s are a deep red, while Eli’s are a variety of colors. Both are amazing.
Winter moves to sit next to Justin, letting the two guys sit on either side of me.
“To answer your question, yes, I’d love to be your Valentine.” I smile at Eli before leaning in to give him a kiss.
“What about me?” Logan grumbles.
“You didn’t ask me anything.” I laugh, bringing my attention to him.
He huffs. “Siren, even though my asshat of a brother asked you first, will you be my Valentine?”
“Hey, be nice,” I chastise playfully. “But yes, I’d love to.” I lean in and kiss him, too. I can feel the heat of the stares from the people around us, but I don’t care. “But you both are late at asking me. Kai did first thing this morning.”
“Of course he did,” Logan sighs.
“I can have more than one.” I bump my shoulder into his, and he wraps his arm around me, kissing the side of my head. “And thank you. I love them.”
We spend the rest of lunch talking, aware of the people around us watching. The guys didn’t seem to think twice about it, so I didn't either.
Afterwards, I kissed them both goodbye and brought the flowers to my car to join the teddy Kai gave me.
As I stare down at the gifts, a little part of me feels hurt. At this point in my life, Owen is a ghost. Honestly, I’ve wondered if he even lives at the house anymore.
He’s always gone. Never responds to my texts. So, for now, I’ve given up. And it fucking sucks. But I guess not seeing him helps because I’m focusing on the guys who are here, who do want me.
I still can’t help but worry about him. Something is wrong. He’s changed big time, and both his brothers and dad have noticed too.
Any time they try to talk to him about it, he shuts them down and says it’s just stress from school and hockey.
I still haven’t been to a game yet, too afraid of seeing him and feeling that pain of rejection. So Winter has kindly been going to them for me, taking the photos I need for class.
Sighing, I close the trunk and head back into the building for my next class, stopping in at the bathroom before heading to it.
When I’m done, I go to wash my hands, but come to a stop when I see some of Stacy’s friends. Lovely. I thought I’d never have to see them again with Stacy gone.
Trying my best to ignore them, I go to the sink and wash my hands.
Unfortunately, they speak. “Who do you think you're fooling?” a girl named Britt asks.
“I’m not sure what you're talking about,” I reply, flicking the water from my hands and going over to the paper towels.
“You were warned to stay away from Logan and his brothers,” another girl named Misty huffs.
“By Stacy.” I blink, wiping my hands. “Who isn’t here anymore. Who’s in jail because of child endangerment,” I snort. “You think I’m going to keep up with her bullshit? She’s not even here. And even if she was, I was done sitting around and letting her fuck up my life. She’s where she belongs.”
“You're nothing but a nasty whore. You make Stacy out to be some monster when she’s not. She loves her son, Berny.”
