Eli blinks, and blinks, and blinks.
“Well, take them!” I laugh.
He slowly reaches out to take the keys. “What is going on?” Eli asks, his voice low and soft. “What do you mean, mine?”
“Well, after you told me about the building being sold, I may have contacted the realtor, who got me in contact with the seller. Then I may have made them an offer to buy the place.”
“How? What about the people who were originally going to buy it?”
“The seller didn’t sign any contracts yet, so he chose to sell it to me. There was a catch, though.” Kai rubs the back of his head, knowing he has to be honest with Eli up front or this could all go to shit.
“What?”
“He would only sell it to me if I bought the adjoining property he was about to put up for sale. This one was listed for so long, he didn’t want the same thing to happen to the other property.”
“Wait, so you own both of these?” he points to the store we’re standing in front of. “And that?” He points to the place next to it.
“No,” Kai says. “I own that.” He points to the second property. “You own this.” He points to the one in front of us.
“No,” Eli says. “You own it. You bought it.”
“For you,” Kai says. “It just happened to work out with the second property. I was looking for a place to open up an art gallery anyways. It was meant to be.”
“You bought it for me?” Eli asks in disbelief. “Why?”
“Because I love you. And I know how much this place meant to you. You worked your ass off for it for so long. I wasn’t about to allow your dreams to go up in flames without a fight.”
Eli’s eyes widen, and I have to hold back a giggle. “Y-you love me?”
Kai lets out a low chuckle, stepping in front of Eli and cupping his face between his hands. “Oh, my sweet sweet boy.Not only do I love you, but I’m in love with you. How can I not? You're smart, funny, caring, loyal, and absolutely perfect for me.”
Eli’s lower lip wobbles. Part of me wants to give them their space, but also, this is downright fucking swoon-worthy.
“I love you too,” Eli whispers.
Kai lets out a low, satisfied growl before pulling Eli in for a kiss.
My belly heats at the sight of the two of them, heart full with how much they care for one another. They are mine. All mine. And I couldn’t be more happy or proud.
“I can’t let you give me this property," Eli says against Kai’s lips when they break apart.
“Eli–” Kai starts, but he’s cut off.
“But, if you let me, I’d like to buy it off of you,” Eli finishes.
Kai’s eyes flick between Eli’s before sighing. “You're not going to let me win, are you?”
“No.” Eli chuckles.
“Fine. Pay what you can now, and do the rest whenever you have it.”
“Yeah?” Eli’s eyes light up.
“Yeah, baby.”
“So, this place is mine?” Eli’s voice grows more hopeful and excited. “I finally have my own studio?”
“It’s all yours, sweet boy.”
