“I’m not saying anything more.” She holds up her hand. “I just want you to get to know Elijah, see how amazing he is, how perfect he can be for you. And when he’s ready to tell you, just remember that, okay?”
“Winter.”
She shakes her head. “Promise me you won’t let it change how you feel about him.”
“He’s not secretly a serial killer? Or has a wife and kids stashed somewhere while living a second life?"
“Darn. You found out both his secrets,” she jokes playfully, snapping her fingers. “How did you know?”
“Both?” I grin in amusement. “Damn. You know what? Still kind of hot.”
“Oh, stop it.” Winter laughs, throwing the pillow back at me.
“I promise, okay?” I grab the pillow.
“Okay.” She smiles softly. “That boy is crazy about you.”
“So you’ve said.” I blush, looking down at the pillow as I play with the pillowcase.
“How do you plan on doing it?”
“Doing what?” My eyes lift, finding hers.
“Dating four guys at the same time.” She wrinkles her nose. “I can’t even imagine dating one, let alone that many.”
“I have no idea,” I sigh. “It’s crazy, I know. Polyamory is becoming more accepted, and I’ve done a lot of research in my downtime. It’s not going to be without its hiccups, and it’s going to take a lot of work and communication, but I’m determined to make it work. I, honestly, can’t imagine giving up one for another. I’ve tried to stay away from Logan, Elijah, and Owen, but we both know how well that went.” I give her a look.
She grins. “Not well at all.”
“Because I don’t want to stay away. I have feelings for all three of them, and the more time I spend with them, the stronger those feelings grow.”
“And what about Kai? How does he fit into that?”
“He’s the universe's way of testing my willpower,” I deadpan. “Spoiler, I don’t have any.” I laugh. “No, really, though, Kai has been the bit of light that helped me through all the dark bullshit I had to go through when Stacy had my life by the balls.”
“If you want all of them, I say have them. Life is too short not to take the bit of happiness you do find and hold on to it.”
There’s a knock at the door, grabbing both Winter’s and my attention.
“I got it.” Winter gets up and makes her way to the door. My heart starts to race. She opens the door, and I get a glimpse of Elijah’s messy hair. They talk quietly for a few moments before Winter swings the door open.
“I had lots of fun, but I must be going.” She rushes over to grab her bag.
“Wait, what?” I laugh. “Babe, you're still in your pajamas.”
“You two have fun. Byeeeee.” She waves as she slips past Elijah, who’s only dressed in low-hung sleep pants and nothing else.
“I don’t think she could be any more obvious if she tried.” Elijah chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. He’s so damn adorable.
And sexy. Fuck me, he looks so damn edible right now.
He stands there awkwardly, seeming to be unsure of what to say or do. “Hi,” He finally says.
“Hi,” I laugh, getting out of the bed and making my way over to him. “Good morning.”
I stop just in front of him, close enough that I need to tip my head backwards to look up at him.
He swallows hard, hands coming down to wrap around me. “Hi,” he murmurs.
