Fucking tease.

Gently biting my clit, he slid two blunt fingers in, and I exploded into one of the most satisfying orgasms of my life. I rode the waves as his hand and tongue worked to prolong the bliss.

Seth’s hooded eyes met mine as he pulled his fingers from me, raised them to his mouth, and licked them clean with a satisfied groan. It was the sexiest thing I had ever seen.

I dragged him up by his messy hair and smashed my lips to his. The kiss was desperate, all teeth and tongue. The taste of mint and my arousal made me moan. I clumsily grabbed his cock and lined it up to my entrance. In one fluid motion, Seth entered me, and we bothgroaned in relief.

I startled awake, drenched in sweat.

Just when it was getting good.

Slowly sitting up in bed, I tested my body for any signs of a hangover. Amazingly, I had dodged that bullet and only had a dry mouth that smelled like ass. I tiptoed to the kitchen and got a glass of water and one of the leftover sandwiches.

Sitting in the dark, I worried about what the next day would bring. We were leaving at eight a.m. to make sure we got to Denver by early evening. Seth’s dad scheduled a huge dinner so we could use the visit to discuss regional business. I hoped I would be able to get a word in with Seth before all the rank-pack bullshit.

I suddenly hated my new title and the responsibilities it entailed. All I wanted to do was find Seth, punch him for worrying all of us, then lock him in a room and have my filthy way with him.

I wondered how real-life Seth compared to dream Seth.

FOURTEEN

“If you have time on your way back through, give me a call and we’ll grab a bite or something,” Brian said over my head as he hugged me close.

“Sure thing.”

Brandon and I tossed our bags in the trunk and got into the car. In the side mirror, I watched Brian’s house disappear as Brandon started what he called his “all-bangers” playlist.

“Well, that was weird.”

I nodded and settled in for the long drive.

The landscape didn’t change for a long time, but then, suddenly, there were mountains. Spending most of my life in the Midwest, the best I ever saw were really big hills. I was completely in love. The closer we got to the aptly named Mountain Pack, the more I pressed my face to the glass, scanning the horizon.

Why have I never been out west? Fuck that. Why haven’t I traveled more?

I was embarrassed by the realization that I had never really been anywhere.

Telling myself I would remedy that soon, I enjoyed the lush greenery and rolling mountains. The GPS took us past a smalltown and through the forest to a large cabin at least thirty miles from the next neighbor.

Jumping out of the car, I stretched my legs and swung my arms back and forth. Brandon didn’t believe in unnecessary stops, so we only made two in seven hours.

Before we could grab the bags from the trunk, the front door flew open, and a tall, redheaded man sprinted out. “You made it! Welcome!”

Rushing down the stairs, he came to a less-than-controlled stop in front of me. His hand shot out and clasped around my unprepared fingers. “You must be Gamma Spencer! I’m Beta, well soon to be Beta, Kennedy.” Looking around me to the other side of the car where Brand was standing, he smiled wide and released my hand. He waved and said, “And you must be Beta Spencer. Welcome, welcome!”

“Actually, we’re both Beta Spencer,” I said, regaining the ginger’s attention.

His brown eyes widened, and his rosy cheeks deepened in color. “My apologies! I didn’t know.”

I waved him off and moved toward the trunk. “Not a problem. It’s new.”

Kennedy stepped around us, grabbed our bags, and walked toward the cabin. I glanced at Brandon to see what he thought of our generous welcome. He just shrugged and closed the trunk. We both had to hustle to catch up with the hyper beta.

“And that’s why,” Kennedy said with a laugh. When he turned back to us, we smiled, having missed everything he had just said, and followed him to a guest room.

“Again, so sorry you have to share a room. We never expected to have so many staying at the alpha’s house.”

Oh, that’s the “and that’s why.”
