We both laugh at that.

“But I forgive you. I know it came from a good place, even if the end result was fucked.”

He lets out a sigh of relief, relaxing his shoulders. “Thank you.”

“Okay, shall we eat now? It smells delicious.”

He nods and we both sit down and just like that first night in New York, we eat way too many dumplings andrate them. This time around, though? Damian gives them different ratings.

How times have changed.

We lay on the floor, the sheets a mess between us as my head finds his strong, muscled chest. He runs his fingers through my hair gently while planting a soft kiss on the top of my head.“I missed this,” he says.

I lift my head abruptly, meeting his gaze with a glare. “It’s your fault we spent so much time apart.”

“Please, don’t remind me.” He grimaces.

I hum. “I’ll think about it.”

After we ate, we wasted no time on removing all of our clothes to make up for lost time. I’m satiated and exhausted—well, maybe not that exhausted. I can go a couple more rounds.

What can I say? I missed him.

He locks his eyes on me, and I can sense an array of emotions brewing in his gaze. He takes a deep breath and says, “Thank you,” in a hushed tone, as if unsure whether to voice his gratitude. "For whatever you did. I don’t need to know if you don’t want me to, but… thank you.”

I try to downplay my role, responding, “It wasn’t just me, you know? Matteo came up with the idea. I just went along with it.”

He mutters, “Well, he better have. He was doing a shit job before.”

I nod knowingly. “I think it’s more than that, though. He considers you his friend.”

He shrugs. “He isn't half bad.”

As we chat, I start sharing Matteo's plan, the details of how we pulled it off, how Alex fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

“I’m going to kill Matteo for putting you in danger,” he says, annoyed.

I gape at him. “We save your ass and that’s what you focus on?”

“Yes. And also, you held a knife to his throat?” He lets out a low whistle. “Who are you and what did you do with my woman?” he exclaims.

I playfully hit his shoulder. "Looks like there's a lot about me you still need to figure out."

He lets out a grunt that makes me laugh.

“Enzo kind of lost it for a moment there, too. He scared the shit out of me,” I confess.

He nods in understanding. “Enzo is a complicated man with a complicated life to say the least. But he has always had my back, however that looks.”

Knowing Damian isn't alone anymore makes my heart flutter. We both had a rough childhood, but now, he's surrounded by people who genuinely love him and would do anything for him. He deserves all the love because he gives it just as passionately, if not more. He's shown that with everything that went down. Most importantly, he has me too, and I’d sacrifice anything for him, no questions asked.

I entwine my legs around Damian's waist, finding a comfortable spot on his lap, already feeling his erection.

“Tesoro,” he rasps through a breathy groan.

“What?” I ask, innocently.

He closes the distance with a fierce, passionate kiss, and I eagerly reciprocate. My hands roam over his strong chest and toned arms as my tongue dances with his. His erection grows rapidly, pressing against me. Slowly, I grind against him, seeking that much-needed friction.
