His forehead wrinkled. “Yeah? It’d be hotter if I’d had a towel.” He dashed into his en-suite bathroom and shut the door.
I peeked at the stain on the duvet. “Bring a washcloth out when you’re done.”
“Yeah,” he called through the door. “I know.” Water rushed behind the door, and then it opened. “Here, one for you and one for my bedspread.” He handed me a wet and warm washcloth and then wiped the stain from the bed with another one.
I cleaned my dick and stood there. “Uh, where would you like this?” Sex with a man was a little more messy than with a woman.
“There’s a laundry bin in the closet.” He strode to a pair of mirrored doors and slid them open. “Right here.” He discarded his washcloth into a tall white bin as I did the same. “Okay, let’s go back to where we were.” Snatching my wrist, he pulled me tothe bed. “Under the covers this time.” He threw the sheets open and slid inside.
I slipped between the cool, crisp sheets to lie next to him, covering myself from the waist down. Rolling to our sides, we both tucked a hand under our pillows. I gazed deeply into his eyes. “That was so much more amazing than I thought it would be.”
“See? That’s why I don’t do it with just anybody.” He grabbed my free hand and held it to his face. “You mean so much to me. Especially now.” He kissed the back of it.
“You mean a lot to me too.” I pressed a long kiss on his lips. “I’m coming out for you. Changing my life for you.”
His eyes glittered in the low light, the sun setting outside the window. “I know you are, and I’ll make sure you won’t regret it. I’ll be there for you, Holden, no matter what happens.”
A smile widened my mouth. “I trust you completely.” There was no reason not to. We’d both bared our souls to each other.
“So…” His eyes twinkled. “I have something to ask you.” The corner of his mouth twitched.
“What is it?” I shifted closer to him. I wanted him near, but I also wanted to see his stunning face. I’d never tire of admiring him. Yeah, this was love.
“I spoke to my parents yesterday, and I told them about you.” A blush spread over his cheeks as his gaze dipped. “We talked about Thanksgiving, and they want to meet you.” He focused on me. “It’s a few weeks away. What do you say?”
“I, uh…” As my chest pinched, I breathed through it. This was a big step. Would I be out to my parents by then? “I guess it’s okay, but I can’t spend the whole day there.”
“Oh.” The shine in his eyes dimmed, and his lips bowed down. “I’m sorry, it’s too much. Isn’t it?”
I grabbed his hand and squeezed it between us. “No, it’s just that I have this situation with my brother and I need to be with my parents at least part of the day.” I tensed my mouth. My fucking brother was such a pain in the ass. Did he have any ideahow his actions affected the rest of us? “If he doesn’t show, then I don’t want my parents to have the holiday alone, you know?”
“Tell me more about your brother.” His gaze softened.
“There’s not much else to tell besides what I already told you.” I thought back. “I called him the other day, and we agreed to meet for drinks. But I doubt it will happen, and even if it did, he’d probably get shitfaced.” An ache reared in my chest. I was so done having the focus always being on him, while he went on his merry way, drinking himself to death.
“If you have drinks with him, would you want me to go with you?” He tightened his hold on my hand.
“No, it could be embarrassing.” I sighed. I wasn’t sure I’d ever want JJ to meet him. “Let’s play it by ear for Thanksgiving, okay?”
“Sure.” Leaning in, he placed a soft kiss on my mouth. “It would be nice if you stopped by. Do you think that would work?”
This obviously meant a lot to JJ. “Yes, I can do that. I’ll make it work.” Freeing his hand, I wrapped an arm around his shoulders and pulled him toward me, kissing his forehead. “I’d love to meet your parents and your sister.” It would be easy. Since they already knew he was gay, I wouldn’t have to come out to them. I released him.
“Thanks, Holden. I’ll tell my mom you’ll stop by and might stay longer, but it will depend on your family.” The edge of his mouth tensed. “I won’t tell them about your brother.”
“Okay.” Now the fucker wassomeone I had to hide. Jesus. I took a deep breath. Maybe it was time to explore JJ’s family background a little more. “You said your relationship with your dad was strained. What would he be like to me?”
“He’d be cordial. He’s pretty good at hiding his dislike of a situation. You’d be getting the side of him he shows to his patients at their bedside.” He chuckled.
“Oh.” I twisted my lips. “And your mom?”
A grin swept his mouth. “My mom’s great. You’ll love her. We’re very close. I think my dad is closest to my sister, and I’m a?—”
“Mama’s boy?” I freed a soft snort. For whatever reason, I could totally see that.
“Yes, I am. We talk about everything.” He rocked once. “She knows all about Myles, so she was happy to hear I’d moved on and found someone else.”
“She is, huh?” I scraped my teeth across my lip. “What information did you share with her about me?” How would JJ describe me to his parents? Surely, he talked me up.
