Dexter: See you tomorrow, dude! Have a safe flight.

“I’m going to kill them. Honestly, I’m going to kill them.”

Emory looks over my shoulder and laughs. “What did you expect?

Preston:I’m turning my phone off now. If I see any of your faces before I reach Italy, you had better guard your nuts.

“Do you all turn into five year olds, or is that special to your group?”

“Our group, Ems. They’re as much yours as they are mine. Aren’t you lucky?”

Her eyes soften. “I really am,” she sighs.

“Can you believe it’s already been a year? Where the hell has the time gone?”

She gives me an ‘are you kidding?’ look, and I chuckle.

“Life won’t always be as complicated as it’s been the last year. It can’t, or none of us will survive.”

“Your family does seem to like a lot of, hmm, what do you call it?”

“Theatrics? Drama? Chaos? Danger? Madness? Craziness? I mean, really, it all fits.” I pull her into my lap.

“All of the above does seem to encompass the last year,” she says, looking up at me through thick lashes.

“You’re so freaking beautiful, Goldie. How did I get so lucky?”

“Well, for once, maybe you can finally thank your bad heart for something.”

I’d never thought of it like that before, but she’s right.

“You’re right. Thanks to my bad fucking heart, I met the love of my life.”

At my words, she sinks into my embrace. It’s my favorite thing in the world—the moment she lets her guard down and is just mine.

“I heard you were looking for astud,” I say, rocking my dick up into her backside.

Her eyes widen, and she looks around for the flight attendant. Even after all this time, she still isn’t used to flying private. The staff makes themselves scarce unless I press a button.

“Preston—” she begins to scold.

“I’ve got the STD, and all I need is U.” The laughter falls from my voice as I say it.

She rears back, “Ugh, Preston. That’s gross. Honestly, are you looking these up online or something? There’s no way you can still come out with bad pickup lines on your own.”

“You’d be surprised at how bad I can be when trying to pick you up, sweetheart. And I have all week, with no interruptions to do just that.”

“Are you going to tell me where we’re going yet?”

“Nope, it’s a surprise.”

“You don’t think I’ll guess it when we land?”

“You might.”

“Then why not just tell me?”

“Because it’s a surprise, Goldie.”
