“Okay, you two. I think girls’ night is over,” Lexi says. “Julia, you help Goody over here, and I’ll get Lanes.”

“Is I Goody?” I laugh.

“Yes, you are Goody,” she says through a smile. “We are going to have to speak to Preston about getting a little more adventurous with you in the bedroom, though.”

Somewhere I recognize that those words should sober me up, but with my judgment impaired, I get lost in the warm feeling that spreads throughout my body.

“Yes, pleeeease,” I hear someone say.Was that me?

Chapter 7

Preston

Ilinger outside of Emory’s apartment for a few beats. When I hear them all laugh, I finally pull away and walk to the elevator. Rubbing a hand over my face, I press the button for the penthouse. I’m not ready for this, but I know by the excessive amount of text messages on my phone, there is no getting out of it now.

Trevor: Preston has a girlfriend.

Dexter: A live-in girlfriend.

Trevor: Who knew about this?

Easton: You’ve got to be kidding me?

Loki: Bull shit.

Halton: Since when?

Ashton: Is she of the blow-up variety?

Colton: Ah, man! Why am I always the last to know?

Colton: The blow-up variety? (Crying laughing emoji)

Trevor: No, a real one. We just met her.

Halton: Is he paying her?

Dexter: I don’t think so.

Ashton: There is no way he has hidden this from us. He’s the most ostentatious of us all.

Easton: He is also physically incapable of keeping a secret.

Oh, if he only knew the truth.

Preston: Jesus. You’re all worse than GG.

I open the door to my home quietly and hear Dexter and Trevor speaking softly. Taking a deep breath and plastering on my devil-don’t-care façade, I enter the great room. They stop talking immediately, and the fight I was building up to leaves in a whoosh of air.

“She seems nice,” Dexter starts.

With the memory of her smile, I sit down across from them. “She is,” I admit. “She’s great, actually.”

“Preston, listen,” Trevor says. “We want to apologize. We’re sorry that we have been so wrapped up in our own lives and all the drama that you didn’t feel you could share something this big with us.”

And just like that, I know I’m going straight to Hell.
