I don’t know why I tell her this over text, but it seems like something she would want to know.
Lexi: I’m glad. I really hope you’re able to get some peace with that part of your life.
Lexi: How do you feel about it?
Easton: I’m confused.
Lexi: It’s a lot to work through.
Easton: I wish you were going with me.
Lexi: Some things we have to do on our own. We can’t come together until we’re strong enough alone.
Easton: I disagree. I think we’ll always be stronger together, even when we’re both a little broken.
Easton: We will, right? Come together?
Lexi: We’re married, East. There has to be a resolution here, too.
I don’t like the sound of that.
Easton: The resolution is me putting your ring back on your finger.
Lexi: …
Easton: I wish I had given it to you sooner. Will you wear it when we get through this?
Lexi: I hope so.
Lexi: Have a good day, East.
Easton: I love you.
Lexi: I know.
That night I’m laying in our bed, cradling Lexi’s pillow like a fucking stalker, when there’s a knock on my door.
“Come in,” I groan, knowing it’s one or more of my brothers.
The door crashes open, and they all pile into the room. Preston, Halton, Colton, Dexter, Trevor, Loki, and Seth crowd the small space.
“Ah, what’s up, guys?” I ask uncomfortably. This looks suspiciously like an intervention.
“You fucked up. We’re here to help,” Dex says happily.
“Listen, I know you love playing the merry fucking fairy, but I don’t need your help.”
Colton makes a show of glancing around. “You don’t need help? So, Lexi’s here? Lexi-con, Lexi-con, come out and play,” he sings.
“You fucking moron.”
Grinning, Colton plops his ass down on the bed next to me. “It’s either us or GG. Who do you want to confide in?”
“Where is GG?”
“Baking pies with-with Ry,” Halton growls while watching the door.
“You have somewhere to be?” Preston asks, noticing Halton’s odd behavior.
