She throws the ball underhanded straight at my gut, and it lands with a thud. “Shots, big guy.”
Sure enough, Colt comes prancing across the court with shots. The three of us throw them back, and I check the ball to Lexi. I dribble a few times, getting a feel for the court, and when she comes up to defend, I move to my left. I’m about to spin when her hand comes from out of nowhere and strips the ball. She runs after it, and before I can react, she’s headed to the hoop again.Motherfucker. I track her down enough to get a hand in her face as she pulls back for a fadeaway jump shot. I get in position for a rebound but can tell by the arc that it’s all net.
“Shots!”
I get my man card back on the next couple of plays.
“Shots!”
“Shots!”
Lexi comes back with a vengeance. Somehow, she gets better the more we drink.
“Shots!”
“Shots!”
“More shots!” Colton yells as we come to the final play of the game. I have to win because there is no way in hell I’m walking around Vegas with Lexi’s ass on my mind.
We all sling the shots back, and I shudder. “What the hell was that?”
Colt smiles wickedly. “Mind eraser. Come on, finish this game. I’m ready to dance!”
Fuck. Now I’m going to have to babysit and watch Lexi’s ass.
It’s my ball, and I take an easy jump shot, but I’m seeing two baskets. I hear the telltale thunk of the backboard. Lexi, fast as ever, grabs the rebound. She’s cleared it at the three-point line, and I’m still trying to get the mind eraser out of my mouth. Since she’s lingering near the arc, I don’t pay much attention.
That was my second mistake.
“Never, ever underestimate me, East.”
I look up just in time to see her go airborne for a three. It has a perfect arc, and I know she just hit the winning shot with nothing but net without ever taking her eyes off of me.
“Looks like I’ll be wearing whatever I like,” she says evilly.
“What do you mean?”
“Let’s go, boys. I need to change before we hit the town.”
* * *
I’m going to kill her. I’d give my left nut if she would put the first outfit back on, but I can never admit that. So now I have to walk around with a fucking steel rod in my pants because the girl I’m with is wearing a sheer shirt with a sparkly bra and hot pants. Her heels are sky high, too, putting her nose to nose with me.
I hate to dance, but as soon as we enter the club, I know I’m going to dance to any song she wants because the second I step back, there will be four other assholes ready to take my spot. I don’t give a shit if she wants to dance with me or not. It’s not up for discussion tonight.
Pink comes on over the speaker, and by the glint in Lexi’s eyes, I know it’s going to be a long night.
“Raise your glass, East,” Lexi yells as I grind up behind her. I don’t know if it’s the shots or her, but I never want to leave the dance floor if it means I can keep her in my arms. She jumps and wiggles and writhes to the music, and I have an uneasy sense of home.
“Next!”
I laugh. “Lexi, we just got here.”
“I know. I’ve never been to Vegas before, though. I want to hit every bar on the strip tonight! Come on, East. Please?”
She asks so sweetly I have to take a breath. That’s the kind of look that could have me agreeing to anything for the rest of my life.
Apparently, even my willpower wilts to her magic. “All right, Sexy Lexi, lead the way. Where’s Colt?”
